I have the Gigablast plan here in El Reno. The 1Gbps download speeds are actually pretty consistent. But the 35Mbps upload speed is an absolute joke for a gigabit plan. Worse, having a 1.25TB monthly data cap in this day and age is a massive ripoff. Forced to use them until AT&T Fiber expands to my neighborhood.

Actually, everything went right by switching to AT&T internet air unlimited. I went from 500 mbps with Cox at $140 a month to 300mbps with AT&T at $47 a month. My concerns about switching mbps were my daughter’s schooling and gaming while being able for my wife and I to stream our shows at the same time. So far, It hasn’t missed a beat and I’m saving almost $100 a month. What a joke. I can’t believe I paid that $140/month with Cox for unlimited for years. That’s on my own ignorance of how the internet works. My advice to you is never use Cox internet. Side note, IMO the customer service representatives that I personally dealt with at Cox are deplorable. Hope this helps.

My experience with Cox was extremely frustrating and far more complicated than it should have been. When I canceled my internet service, my mobile service was also canceled in error without any notice. This left me without service and forced me to spend hours working between Cox and another carrier just to restore access and transfer my number. During the process, I also experienced incorrect account information and delays that made porting my number more difficult than necessary. The biggest issue was how difficult it was to actually complete a cancellation. Despite clearly and repeatedly requesting that all services be canceled, I was met with delays and repeated retention offers instead of action. It took over four hours and multiple interactions to get confirmation that my account would finally be closed. At a minimum, Cox needs to clearly explain how bundled services are affected when canceling, ensure services are not canceled or changed without notice, respect direct cancellation requests without repeated sales pressure, and provide accurate account and porting information the first time. Losing service unexpectedly and then struggling to cancel properly is not an acceptable customer experience.

To begin with, Cox Communications has provided us with close to excellent internet connectivity. No complaints there. But it took over a year and a half for them to understand that we didn’t want or need any TV service. We began with a reasonable amount for TV & internet. But for some inexplicable reason our bill kept increasing by around $20 every few months or so. Eventually we were paying three times the original costs. I tried to remedy the situation by going on the app to remove service. But I continuously received a notification that service changes could only be done by the account holder, which was me. Don’t ask. I finally bit the bullet and got on their chat (my 4th try since calling them was an utter failure because rather than giving me what I wanted, they just hung up on me). I finally wised up and made as if I were interested in a plan “designed especially” for me. I pretended like I was interested. At the end of 2 presentations, I asked, yet again, my VERY simple inquiry which was how much would it be to keep the internet and remove the TV service. FINALLY the agent got it. And only 2.5 hours into the chat! My internet service remains at a cost that’s almost embarrassing low! Shhhh don’t tell anyone about this. Thanks Cox for the absolute waste of my time and for helping yourself to funds that made no practical sense given what you people were trying providing.

This is the worst customer service I’ve seen possibly in my entire life. Absurdly ridiculous representatives.

Cox is the most unreliable and frustrating service provider I’ve dealt with. I pay $301 a month, and what I get is unstable internet, constant micro‑drops, and cable fees that climb for no reason. One customer service rep promised to lower my bill — documented it — and then the next person claimed there was “no record of that conversation.” That alone tells you everything about their internal consistency. And when I reached the so‑called Loyalty Team, they offered nothing. No solutions, no adjustments, just the line that I had already received “all the credits they could apply,” even though I was disconnected from multiple customer calls during a Cox‑confirmed outage. Their job is supposedly retention, but they take no action. Multiple Cox techs have told me I’m at the end of the line, which means I’m the first to feel every signal issue. Cox knows this and still refuses to address the underlying problem. Support is a loop of scripted denials, reboot instructions, and zero accountability. For the price I’m paying, this level of service — and the lack of honesty — is unacceptable. If you rely on your internet for work, look anywhere else.
