Update 12/17/2024 Compass mining contacted me right after this review to fix the issue and offered me a replacement miner at no cost. Happy with the resolution. I've had a thoroughly disappointing experience with Compass Mining. I originally purchased a total of 5 miners, including an Antminer S19 XP, which worked perfectly for five months before Compass unilaterally decided to relocate it. Immediately after the move, the miner stopped working, and customer service confirmed it was functional up until it was shut down for migration. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, Compass offered me a mere $300 credit against a current market value of $1625 for similar used miners, and they retained my $351.60 deposit. Their customer support lacks phone service, and email responses are slow and generally unhelpful. After my struggles to get any meaningful resolution or compensation for my losses, I would advise against doing business with this company. They have shown a serious lack of care for customer concerns and equipment handling. If you have doubts about my experience, just Google the company and you’ll find plenty of similar stories. Proceed with caution.

Update: After initially leaving a 1-star review, the Compass Mining team reached out and assigned me a temporary unit for the duration of my unit being under repair. Thank you Compass Team. My bitcoin miner has been "under repair" for 1 year now. At this point, Compass no longer responds to my messages in the ticket I started with them when I ask for a status update on the repair. Additionally, I have tried starting other tickets to get an update and they just tell me they are "merging" it with the existing ticket and don't give me an update on the repair. I wanted to support this company because their mission to bring bitcoin mining mainstream is good, but the customer support leaves a lot to be desired.

Choosing to mine with Compass has been the worst financial decision I've ever made. This company has been entirely unreliable, missing nearly EVERY deadline or timeframe they ever set. My units came online 2 MONTHS after the expected activation. They have now been offline for the last 6 weeks. I had another unit go offline 6 months ago and at this point I'm convinced I'll never see it online again. All I've heard from customer service is that it's "loaded on a pallet and being moved". Months go by and all they have to say is "yeah it's still on its way to another facility". I own 5 units with Compass for a total of 504 TH/s and my average hashrate for the last 5 months has been 220 TH/s! LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT I PURCHASED. Avoid them at all costs. You'd be better off burning your money, then at least you can keep your hands warm. UPDATE: The sales agent (not sure what his role is) who replied to this review was able to address my concerns and I now have all of my units online. I've updated my rating to reflect this and will continue to update it over the next few months if things go smoothly.

I purchased an Antminer S19XP that came online on the expected date. I didn't encounter any significant issues until about a month ago, when the ASIC began to only hash at 50% capacity every day. I suspect this might be due to the hot weather and inadequate ventilation at the hosting facility. There could also be dust accumulation within the machine (Indiana compass code 81x). In my most recent support ticket, they provided a very generic response, mentioning that they would attempt to improve the situation. However, it's been a month, and the ASIC has been going offline for an average of 12 hours per day. To exacerbate matters, Compass does not offer credits unless the issue pertains to the facility as a whole. When I was considering the purchase of my ASIC, I had a video call with a Compass representative. However, after becoming a customer, every issue must be submitted through support tickets. This entire situation is disheartening for me, as I'm a strong believer in Bitcoin mining and have a positive outlook. If Compass had a more prompt and effective response to such situations, I would gladly recommend their services to many of my fellow Bitcoin enthusiasts.

There's been some difficulties and delays, but now my miner is up and running. I'm glad that Compass Mining has been willing to work with me to resolve recent problems. I believe there's some room for improvement and growth in this company.

Compass Mining is a legit company with pretty decent customer service. From time to time your support requests don't get answered, but I see an improvement in response time as of late. However, when it comes to meeting delivery time to bring units online they are very poor. Many promises that they are just about to bring your miner online that later are not met. Expect at least 3-6 months delays compared to promised deployment time.

I've had a few hiccups during the startup, but they've been honest and transparent about their process. This definitely seems like a company that is learning from their mistakes, and will improve over time. I intend to continue using Compass to host my miners.

Team are nice and have good intent, but operationally things are a nightmare. There have been delays on miners firstly which was not handled in the best way by the leadership team, resulting in them having to give bad news of further delays three times. Now customer service literally takes days (and having to chase up on social media) to get a response, and the query isn't even resolved then. I was unable to query an invoice with the support team and had to end up paying for in BTC in the end because of a mix up in the finance team and severe delays in getting back to me. Also, basic functions of the user dashboard are missing, such as the ability to pay using credits, and records of hardware purchases, which in turn increases workload on customer service as people are emailing them rather than be able to self serve. To summarise, lots of work to do, especially by the Leadership team to turn this company into one which retail customers feel comfortable with. Seems this can be achieved with better internal backend processes and by hiring more staff (which I believe Compass are doing already). I believe in Compass' mission and want them to succeed. Please take this as constructive criticism rather than an angry rant. I have previously refrained from even posting this but feel that new customers ought to know what the current situation is.
