EDIT: The review below was written before their CEO and CFO stepped down in response to execution problems. Hopefully the new C suite can address the communication issues going forward. ***** Constant delays and zero communication. If you are looking for passive income, this is not the "investment" you're looking for. Compass continually fails to hit any deadline they commit to and communication is awful. This business is pure middle men--they don't control the hosting sites so any questions about the status of your orders, why your miners are offline, what the new timelines are like since the old timelines are clearly missed. Responses from support requests can come comically late, if at all. They are awful at project management and somehow even worse at keeping their customers informed. I spent ~$80k with them last year across two site countries and I have exactly 0 machines online and hashing for the last six weeks. A number of us customers are having to out of pocket additional money to hire our own lawyers to get any sort of update about "our" property. You can see this all this for yourself if you join their customer discord. I *highly* encourage you do this and see the level of customer service you will receive before you spend any money with this company. Don't trust, verify!

I have machines with Compass that are hosted in Russia. Due to sanctions, the hosting agreement with facility had to end. However, Compass made no effort to return the machines to their or my own possession. They have instead cancelled our agreement unilaterally and have provided no way for me to gain possession of my property. There has been no further communication on the matter and I will be taking legal action against them. A truly disgraceful company that hides behind false PR spin on Twitter ‘Spaces’

Very bad customer service. Miners are frequently down, facilities are non responsive for status updates and even if electricity rates are cheap you pay the expense of poor uptime and long deployment times. Do not use them to host your miners

Stay away - far far away. I don't understand how people are putting 5 stars here... CompassMining have delayed every single bundle they have offered. You will not have a single machine deployed on time. They are awful at customer service. I would highly recommend looking at other services. STAY WELL CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY. I wish I had never spent all this money with them. FYI you'll never get a refund either. never.

Ordering and paying was easy. Good luck with getting your miner online on time. User frustration is at an all time high. The discord is full of angry customers or conspiracy theorist. William Foxley (media guy) will ban anyone who says anything out of frustration. Any attempts to discuss alternative methods to reclaim the stuck miners in Russia is deleted under the guise that it is fake. Go with someone else if you are mining or buy Bitcoin directly to save yourself the headache. Only bright spot; Nathaniel and Kris Bakker work here and they seem to genuinely care.

It has been two weeks and I have not got an update on my miner that Compus is stating in the facility updates should be deployed and it has not.

The Service is garbage. I ordered a Texas Star Mini bundle last year. Evry Month Should go a Miner online 2 were online for couple days now they are 10 days offline and my ither 4 who should go online are not going online aswell. just a garbage company.

In April of 2022, due to US sanctions against Russia, Compass mining has not been permitted to maintain any relationship with its Russian counterpart Bitriver. I have a miner located in Russia, I have sent dozens of emails to both Compass mining and Bitriver to come to a solution, but they have been atrocious in finding any. They will not ship my miner back to me, nor ship it to another facility in the US, nor will they give compensation for the value of my miner. The only thing they have said is that they will ‘try’ to sell/liquidate them through a third-party but with no guarantee of this. In addition to this, here is an excerpt from an update sent out by Compass Mining on the 4th of March 2022 (a few weeks before the sanctions): “Dear Compass Miners, We understand you may have some concerns. We wanted to inform you that it is "business as usual" here at Compass. We are monitoring closely how sanctions could impact mining but they don't seem to affect us [...] We constantly communicate with our Russian hosting partner, who also sits on the Russian Government's Crypto Working Committee. If the situation changes, Compass will take swift action to move all machines out of Russia immediately, but drastic action is not needed.” There’s quite a few things to unpack from this email, wether it be from incompetency or simply lying I do not know, however only a few weeks before Compass informed its clients that from one day to the next they would not have the option to relocate or sell their miners and that it would be our responsibility now to get back our miners from Russia, they stated they were monitoring the sanction situation very closely, and that “drastic action is not needed”. Suddenly, a few weeks later an email arrived notifying the sanctions in place and that we would have no access to our miners or reasonable help from Compass. In short, no matter the contract you make with Compass mining, when a rock in the road appears they will leave you high and dry, one day to the next. Making it a morally questionable company, it’s simply unacceptable to not fight for your clients’ right to have their property returned to them, or to take responsibility and compensate your clients appropriately.
