Little did I know that this company is actually a broker and sublets the actual moving to other companies until it was too late. Initial quote based on house size, $2,600. Later gave a compete list of the items, still smaller than a typical three bedroom home and even less than a two bedroom home, $4,200. Company comes to load up (with less items than the most recent quote, and not a few less, a lot less) and calculates the cubic feet and the price goes up to $5,700. At that point you want them to unload the truck back into the house but you are stuck with it. Big time Bait and Switch every step of the way, and once they’ve got you good luck getting them to answer the phone. The contract also states they have twelve working days starting on the potential first date of delivery to finally arrive with your stuff. Finally after two weeks from the initial delivery date, three total for the move, they called—but they also wanted to deliver in an hour, and it was already nine PM. Who has that kind of flexibility? Also, who can live in their new house with absolutely nothing but a couple of suitcases worth of stuff for three or more weeks? Even the fellow (who was extremely nice, btw- we bought him lunch and gave a really nice tip) who delivered it looked over the paperwork and was shocked by the cubic foot pricing at the pickup considering how few items he delivered, 25 boxes, one queen bed, one sofa, two chairs, small kitchen table and chairs, one standard dresser and two smaller dressers. Honestly it may have been cheaper to dump everything and buy new than to move it. It’s not like anything was top of the line stuff. Oh, and the mover was alone, no one else showed up to assist him, I had to help. Why does delivery take so long? Because the trucks need to be full to move from warehouse to warehouse. Mine went from Albuquerque to Los Angeles to San Francisco and finally to Sonoma. At no point after the initial pickup was I comfortable with the move. I felt utterly helpless, uninformed, and never even sure if I’d ever see the stuff again, and wondering if someone would show up and then demand even more money to unload the truck. Never would I recommend this company. Never. This company posts-per trustpilot- fake reviews and has been caught doing so, if you look at their ratings it is either one star or five stars. Which reviews would you believe, the one sentence five star or the long form one star nightmares?

They sent some great, amazing, kind strong movers. However, Coastal needs to communicate better.

We moved from Pennsylvania to North Carolina. We had sold our home in PA, and our stuff was in storage. My wife gave accurate dimensions of our storage unit and let them know it was full. She received a "binding estimate". We drove to PA for an early morning move. When the loaders arrived, the supervisor said it was fuller than he thought, and the price went from $10,000 to $12,500, cash. 1/3 was collected with the "binding estimate", and the rest was split; 1/2 at load and 1/2 at unload. They loaded the stuff onto two smaller trucks and set a delivery time in NC. The truck arrived: an Amazon full-size trailer with a driver - no ramp, no liftgate. We asked where the unloaders were, and he said he just drives. At 9:00 am, we called customer service, and they said they would get back to us. When we called again and again, they wouldn't answer. At 2:00 PM, I started arranging my own unloaders. Coastal Moving Services finally called my wife, and she said her husband was handling it. He started yelling at my wife, so I took the phone. He said I'm in trouble and can't touch the load. I told him I'm already touching the load, and they should have called us back and arranged unloaders. They rushed over a guy named Kenny, who brought three Craigslist unloaders. He collected the money and left the unloaders, who all wondered if they were going to get paid. The driver, my wife, and I all pitched in and got the truck unloaded. Coastal Moving Services is terrible all the way to K-Pop Kenny. They prey on seniors like my wife and me, and should not be in business.

Coastal Moving Services IS JUST A MIDDLE MAN. A callous one at that. They provide you with an original contract that voids them of any liability, then collect your deposit before handing you off to a third party moving service to be handled as they please. Don't expect a call back from the original agent( John Cooper, who promised to always be available for questions or updates), don't expect customer service agents Ashley or Kathy to be professional, respectful and recite anything outside of the contract parameters. They have no empathy when seeking guidance on how to go about handling THEIR BUSINESS ASSOCIATES, RAPID EXPRESS moving practices. Nothing expressed verbally during the contract or payment portion of our transactions held up to the original plan. THEY DO NOT HAVE TO DELIVER YOUR ITEM FOR UP TO 7-14 DAYS, once they have been loaded on the truck - per Ashley and Kathy (as the contract states) THEY DO NOT HAVE TO ANSWER THE PHONE ON THE WEEKEND TO TELL YOU WHERE YOUR BELONGINGS ARE OR WHY THEY (3rd party) ARE NOT RESPONDING- per Ashley who could care less about customer satisfaction COASTAL ASSUMES NO CARE FOR YOU AS A CUSTOMER AFTER YOUR DEPOSIT IS PAID. THEY ARE A MIDDLE MAN. YOU DO NOT NEED THEM. READ THE FINE PRINT BEFORE SIGNING. THEY PARTNER WITH TERRIBLE BUSINESSES.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are brokers and will set you up with a random low rent moving company. They hustle you to pay the deposit on the phone and push you to sign the contract while they’re still on the phone so you don’t have time to read through it. When you try to get a refund because that is not disclosed, they will verbally berate you (a man quite literally YELLED into the phone) and then send a barrage of emails outlining how they’ll fight you in court if you dispute the charge. Lost $1200 + in a deposit with these con artists. Not to mention the movers never contacted me until the MORNING OF MY MOVE. I ended up not even using them so it was a waste of money. This company needs to be shut down. Absolute trash of human beings.
