We always appreciate feedback; whether that feedback provides us with an opportunity to celebrate or an opportunity to identify a gap and improve it. We know for many students (like your son) improving their study skills is the most urgent need. Your experience highlights a dual need that many students face. A short-term need to have an external person (parent, teacher or tutor) provide the necessary support to help the struggling student study effectively. This external person is effectively compensating for the lack of skills the student has in order to ensure they are prepared for upcoming tests and assignments. If, however, we only provide short-term support we run the risk of that student becoming dependent on external support. This dependency is one of the main reasons 40% of college undergrad students drop out before completing their degrees. They’ve never developed these skills for themselves because they’ve been able to rely on the external support provided during school. The long-term solution therefore is to coach students to develop these skills for themselves so they become independent learners. Unfortunately, there is no quick fix solution to doing this. The tiny steps approach we use is essential to ensuring students aren’t simply flooded with more information but rather ensure they build and retain the habits and skills they need. In our experience of working with high school students it takes a minimum of 6 months to see significant results. We are 100% confident that your son would develop these skills for himself if he had more time to do so. We would love to offer you 2 free months of coaching so as to give your son that opportunity. Hi Shelley Being told one thing that provides so much promised hope and feeling like that didn’t happen is beyond frustrating – we are really sorry to hear that this has been your experience of Coachbit. We thrive off all levels of reviews, great reviews get shared and celebrated; one star reviews get shared and put on our workshop table with the question of how can we mend what has been broken and what can we learn from it going forward. We help loads of kids with ADHD and other learning disabilities so we are sorry to hear that your experience was not positive. We have processed your cancellation with a refund, and absolutely understand the frustration you must feel. Additionally, we’ve done a deep dive into the context building up to your cancelation so that we can understand exactly where the areas are that we need to address. I’ve consulted with your son’s coach, team lead and learning strategist. Unfortunately, it seems that initial buy-in to the program was not achieved with your son. A lack of engagement limits progress so ensuring that check-ins are consistently attended and interesting for students like your son is an area of focus for us.
