Beth, thank you for sharing such a thoughtful review! We’re so glad you had a great experience with Smoky Mountain Express and that you received many bids, giving you plenty of options for your kittens’ long-distance transport. We also appreciate you pointing out the areas where we fell short of your expectations. We never want customers to feel caught off guard by a fee, and while we provide several indicators of the fee throughout the booking process, we understand there is room to make this even clearer. We’ll certainly keep your insights in mind as we continue improving this part of the experience. The booking fee helps us invest in the platform, including driver verification and screening, customer support, platform security, an interface that supports a competitive bidding process, and protections designed to provide coverage for pets throughout the distance of their trip. We also understand your preference for having more payment protection when working with a driver. Our Secure Payment Program is available for pet shipments and provides added peace of mind by allowing CitizenShipper to handle the payment and release the funds once the transport is completed. We’d be more than happy to help you set up your next shipment using our Secure Payment Program so you have that added protection from start to finish!

Rayven, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad to hear that everything felt legitimate during your dog’s shipment, though we completely understand your concerns about the cost. Drivers on CitizenShipper are independent providers, and each driver sets their own bid based on the route, timing, and services they provide. There are also several factors that go into a pet shipment, including the care and attention provided throughout the journey, communication between the driver and pet owner, driver verification and safety measures, and the protections available for pets during transport. We work hard to provide a platform where pet owners can connect with safe-vetted drivers and have additional support throughout the process. We understand that the total cost can feel significant, but we appreciate you giving CitizenShipper a try and taking the time to share your experience.
