User friendly and provided all the information I was looking for. Ask a few simple questions then match me to those who were willing to take the job. The only reason I did not give a higher review is because I feel like the site charges way to much to use their services. I paid 300$ which is crazy!
Response from CitizenShipperSep 7, 2026
Daniel, thank you for sharing your feedback with us! We’re glad to hear you found the platform user-friendly and that our matching process quickly connected you with transporters ready to help.
We understand your reaction to the fee, and we appreciate the chance to clarify what it covers. A $300 fee can be a noticeable cost, but it isn't just a charge to unlock driver contact information.
Our fee directly invests in your peace of mind, by powering the security and support infrastructure designed to support comprehensive driver vetting, protection programs, and dedicated customer support.
Thank you again for your honest review. Your feedback helps us continuously refine how we communicate our value, and we hope your shipment went smoothly!

On the plus side, she is clearly a pet lover.
On the plus side, Shadea got our dogs to us in 3 1/2 days for a 3 day trip Az to Wisconsin. Very reasonable timing. She said she let our puppy sit on her lap. Which was nice, she sent progress photos and let us know where they were every day. She seems to genuinely like dogs and took them to a dog park at least once. She’s a pleasant lady.
Our disappointments were: that she started our leg of her trip with 7 dogs total and 2 cats. Initially when booking with her, she had told Dawn, my wife, that she would only have 2 cats and our dogs. My wife had warned her that one of our dogs didn’t get along with other dogs, so of course there was some kind of dog snarling/snapping. Not good nor surprising with that many dogs in a mini van for days on end.
Although she drove the dogs in a timely fashion, some how she managed to go from AZ to Texas, to Arkansas to Florida and to New Jersey on the trip. She mentioned at some point that she also was getting dogs in Washington DC before bringing them after texting us at 4:40am and delivering them to us at 5am!
We had pre bagged am & pm food for each dogs meals which the puppy had only eaten 1/2 of and the older dogs less than that. To some degree, the puppy and especially the older dog not eating much is to be expected.
Both dogs came in the door clearly Very, Very thirsty, hungry, stinking of urine and emotionally drained. When they came home they ran to drink out of the toilet which we’ve never seen them do. Clearly under nourished and thirsty.
She covered more than twice the miles that AZ to Wisconsin would take, based on what she told us. To do that our dogs would have been in her mini van twice as long as the initial agreement was for. We didn’t care for the lack of transparency both with how many pets and how many hours they’d have in transport.
I wouldn’t use her services again. Ckearly Citizenshipper is a 3rd party platform that doesn’t provide “guard rails” to provide port owners with predictable experiences. Although I don’t believe Shadea intentionally mislead us, we wouldn’t have hired her had we known how many dogs she hauls, nor how many hours in the car the dogs would have endured.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear your fur babies were delivered safely and that you received regular updates along the way, but we’re sorry to learn about the concerns you experienced regarding transparency, routing, and the condition of your fur babies upon arrival.
CitizenShipper connects pet owners with independent transporters, and clear, uprfont communication is essential for a smooth experience. We’d appreciate the opportunity to look into this further and better understand what happened. Please reach out to us at [email protected] so our team can review the situation and follow up appropriately.

Who's running marketing?? 😯
First, let me say my review is not of the actual shippers or the company as a whole, but the idiotic way they send quotes from people who are states away! If I'm literally going pick up 40 minutes from me, why are you sending me quotes from people in another state??? 450 to go pick up a cat is literally a flight round trip with the pet fee!!!
If you do not have anybody in the local area, then just say that. If somebody has to drive to Louisiana from Alabama, of course they're going to want money for it... Totally get that, but the website should not even send me anybody who's not in the local area. So I've dealt with them before for local rides and they're amazing, but their system of pet shipping is horrible. I personally fly myself to deliver pets, and it's absurd that they're charging the same amount of a round trip flight and usually about $150 for the pet fee to go from New Orleans to LaPlace. You don't need USDA certification to go pick up a pet, I'm sorry I do this monthly. That is just ridiculous, and not required for domestic pets when the liability falls on the breeder. FYI, cats and dogs 8 weeks or less DO NOT HAVE TO BE VACCINATED!!! Another lie!
Uber is a third of that rate, so operations and marketing need to be evaluated, because they're losing clients because of this. If someone can take an Uber for a third of the rate that you're charging them, they're going to take the freaking Uber. The quotes need to be coming from people within 30 miles of where the pet is at.
It's just unorganized completely, and this really is a no-brainer. If you do not have people in a select area, just say that. No one's going to pay $500 for something they can get for $110 LOL.
I had a client pay nearly $1,800 from Louisiana to Chicago, when I could have delivered her pet all the way to Nigeria for that in a first class seat and a hotel room.
So, I do recommend this company for local rides and their lovely drivers, but that's about it. I have an MBA with a concentration on marketing, and this is just the most asinine thing I've ever seen in my life. I could literally hire a personal driver for half the rate some of these people are asking, so maybe that is what they should be doing.
Response from CitizenShipperNov 19, 2025
Michaela, thank you for sharing your thoughts and for your kind words about our local drivers. We completely understand how receiving quotes from out-of-state drivers can be frustrating. We want to clarify that drivers on our platform are independent contractors, which gives them the flexibility to bid on shipments they are available for. Many drivers complete shipments across the country, and sometimes they may be passing through an area while completing another shipment or returning from a trip, which allows them to take on additional bookings.
Regarding the booking fee, we truly appreciate your insights. The fee helps provide peace of mind and safeguards for both pets and owners through our Pet Protection Plan and Booking Assurance Guarantee, while also supporting the maintenance and operation of our platform.
We truly value your review, as it helps us better understand the needs of our community. Our goal is always to make pet transport as safe, reliable, and stress-free as possible.-Karla

I love the potential of this platform
I love the potential of this platform, but the use is a little inconvenient.
It isn't designed in such a way to allow you to star quotes, so that they appear on top of your chats, and there is no option to arrange quotes by ratings, popularity, price, etc.
The initial process can be overwhelming, being messaged by so many vendors, and there should be a way to filter out ones that are relevant by features as well, such as solo ride or crate free ride etc.
Customer suppport shoulde be a chat feature within the platform, and like any booking platform it should enable to pay the full amount via the website, as well as show the booking fee in advance
Response from CitizenShipperAug 1, 2025
Thanks for sharing your experience. We appreciate you taking the time. You’ve highlighted several important areas where the platform could be more user-friendly, like enhancing filtering options, messaging flow, and payment visibility. We’re listening and we’ll be sharing your thoughts with our product team so these suggestions can be reviewed as we plan future updates. Your input helps us make CitizenShipper better for everyone, and we're grateful to have you in the community. If you ever have any additional thoughts or suggestions on how we can improve, please feel free to reach out at [email protected]. We’d love to hear from you.-Karla

This company is terrible
This company is terrible. My dog was being transported and the driver apparently had warrants out for his arrest. He ended up in a high speed police chase with the animals he was transporting in his van and the police rammed the rear of his vehicle, where the animals were in their kennels.
I tried calling Citizen Shipper but guess what, they don't have a phone number to call. I had to threaten legal action to receive any kind of refund, which they only refunded me the service fee but not until I threatened legal action. The company I booked with said they were background checked.
Be careful who you book. I gave 3 stars because I rebooked with someone else, On the Go Rescue and they were incredible. But I had to find them myself. Highly recommend them!

Brittanie,
We’re deeply sorry for the distressing experience you and your pet endured. We recognize that it caused you significant concern and disruption, and no customer should ever be put in that position.
Safety is our top priority, and we’re conducting a thorough internal review to understand exactly what occurred and ensure it never happens again. We're also working to improve how we support customers during urgent situations so concerns can be addressed more efficiently.
We also want to sincerely apologize for the delay in processing your refund. Once your experience was fully brought to our attention, we should have acted faster, and we take responsibility for that delay.
While we regret how things began, we’re very glad to hear you had a much better experience with your second driver and that your pet ultimately made it safely to their destination. Thank you for sharing your story. It’s helping us improve how we support our customers and ensure better outcomes moving forward.

Driver was great but watch the fine print
Driver was great, dependable.
But website dups you into paying for extra pet insurance by making it the default. Im a senior so oops I didn’t notice, thought you added it if wanted.
Hey, charge me more if you want but don’t trick me, lost my trust.
Plenty of other companies out there, they are just brokers.
Response from CitizenShipperMay 13, 2025
Marshall, thank you for your review. We’re very glad to hear that your driver was dependable and provided a great experience—that’s exactly what we hope for every time.
We’re truly sorry to hear there was some confusion about the Pet Protection Plan. To provide a bit of clarity, at checkout, we offer customers the option to select the level of protection that best fits their needs. If a plan was added unintentionally and the transport hasn’t been completed yet, we’d be more than happy to help remove it for you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected], we’ll gladly take a closer look and assist you with this.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and are grateful for the opportunity to help.
