I booked a job with a CITIZEN SHIPPER
I booked a job with a CITIZEN SHIPPER, specifically with MARANA COTTIER, on Sept 4, and paid Sept 7 for a job scheduled for Oct 3. On Sept 17 I canceled the job because my reason for traveling was canceled. All of this is documented on texts. So far, of the $1130 paid, I have received only $600 for the TIMELY refund request. MARANA COTTIER, abetted by CITIZEN SHIPPER, are refusing to return my money. They have stolen my money. This is an ethical failing, and is theft. How well do you expect CITIZEN SHIPPER and MARANA COTTIER to treat your pets? Do NOT do business with CITIZEN SHIPPER or MARANA COTTIER.

Hello there, As the Operations Manager for CitizenShipper I wanted to reach out personally and reassure you that our platform is completely legitimate. There have, unfortunately, been occurrences where customer did not read the contract with the driver, as well as the terms of their agreement in using our site, resulting in frustration and unhappiness. We strive to do our best, through customer support, to resolve issues to the customers' satisfaction and to treat the drivers fairly, which means conducting a thorough investigation whenever there is a situation that is not resolved through discussion. Further, CitizenShipper is only connected with the drivers as a third-party, assisting with verification and connecting them with customers in need. We have limited resources to mediate situations, legally as well as ethically, as we are not the employers, you are. You, the person who signed the contract and paid for services rendered, are the actual employer of Marana Cottier. This is why we provide articles that outline the refund policy, and perhaps we need to make it even more clear that what customers are paying for is the support, the programming, the web hosting, the background checks, the driver profile creation, and everything else that allows an everyday citizen to make a good choice of driver for their shipment. Optionally, if you were to go on Craigslist and post an ad, you would either take your chances on a stranger, or you'd have to pay for a background check, verification of insurance, try to figure out if they have experience and if they have even done transportation before. The value we provide is in doing all of that verification for you. Again, I am sorry that you have had a bad experience. I am looking into the one-time refund of your booking fee. If the driver had a contract stating the deposit you paid was nonrefundable, or refundable for half of the deposit. I hope you are able to work with us to get this all figured out. Talk soon!
