It is unfortunate but Cigna truly is a criminal enterprise which is leeching from communities it boasts to support so all their revenue/profits are a false indicator of company performance as in reality Cigna is engaging in unethical and illegal practices. I have been on disability for 13 months and still have not been paid ANY long term disability (LTD) payment even after providing Cigna with over ~700 pages of documents/letters from two unrelated MDs, a therapist, and my IOP programs. The claim denial is almost criminally systemic. My doctors have stated in letters Cigna is not willing to accept any evidence from them. Cigna made several claims which were illogical, inaccurate, illegal which violate my LTD policy. Cigna has in past accessed health records without my authorization which was not required per my LTD policy (ie. pre-existing period). Cigna agents will not return calls or emails then blatantly lie they never received faxes. Cigna misinterprets doctor notes to systematically deny your benefits. They give the illusion of conducting impartial reviews but it is far from reality. Cigna gives unrealistic deadlines that by the time you get a doctors appointment it is already late. I have wasted at least 10-12 one hour doctor appointments writing to Cigna. They pay no attention to what is written instead keep denying with the same reason as original denial. The agents know exactly what is required up front but they intentionally make one request per denial to drag matters into months. I am filing a second BBB complaint – after the first complaint they had me speak to an advocacy team which is a front as even now I have not received any LTD payments. I have no choice but to get an attorney per my physicians. Cigna employees including executives knowingly made my disability worse than to start with.

I only gave 1 star to leave this review. Dealing with Cigna is such a headache. I finally get my claim rep on the lone after countless days of jumping thru hoops, and the minute I ask a question...he goes silent and disconnects. I attempted to call back and speak with MARQUIS 1 minute later , and mysteriously he’s out of the office right now. Of course when you speak with someone else they don’t really assist, because you’re not their claimant. It never fails when dealing Cigna. The WORST insurance company ever.

Cigna is a predatory company. Some of their provider networks are so narrow they should be illegal. For example, there is a hospital 10 minutes from my house, but it is not in-network so now I have a $1,200 out-of-network bill because my infant child was choking. The closest in-network hospital is 30 minutes further. Also, their customer service representatives are not well trained and - either purposefully or inadvertently - communicate false information. This has led to avoidable out-of-network costs.

I had a weird experience with Cigna this week. I had a UTI and the bills I received were astronomical. I was upset with the bills because I have an HSA and I have to meet a high deductible. I called Cigna to see if they could help me find a provider and lab that would charge less in case I need services in the future. (My dr used a hospital lab instead of an independent lab so the charges were high) The customer service rep told me he would have the lab portion of the bill reprocessed and paid in full by Cigna by the end of the following week which would have been 8/7/2020. This struck me as odd, since the charges went to my deductible legitimately. I doubted they were going to pay the lab bill, but I followed up with them today. Sure enough, they did not pay the bill. I am dumbfounded as to why the customer service rep told me they would pay the bill. I never complained about their not paying, since I have a deductible, I just wanted help in finding new, more affordable providers. Anyway, what kind of goofy customer service is that? I spoke to a different representative today, who advised me that independent labs are cheaper than hospitals, a fact that I already knew, but no one was able to look at CPT codes and tell me what other labs charge. I was told I needed to provide tax id numbers and cpt codes so they could access the contracts. I don’t know why Cigna does not have this information if they are processing claims. I think Cigna should be able to provide better customer service all around. Telling me a claim was going to be paid when it was not going to be just made a difficult situation worse. I would give 0 stars if I could.

Dear Cigna, My son has Mild Mental retardation. He had a seizure in the doctors office. He's having intense facial tics. Cigna's response to paying for a CPT code 95712 EEG. "This policy is meant for healthy individuals. You can't have any underlying conditions when you sign up for this policy." Apparently Cigna is above the pre-existing conditions laws that state you can't charge someone more due to pre-existing conditions. They offered to cover it for $600 more a month when I already pay $450 a month. First off my son is healthy. He has special needs and these are discriminatory practices. Saying that a child with MR is not healthy and won't be covered is the sickest most disgusting business practice I've ever heard of. IN CONCLUSION DO YOU REALLY WANT INSURANCE FROM A COMPANY THAT DISCRIMINATES AGAINST SPECIAL NEEDS?

we obviously need medicaid for all in the US, universal healthcare this system is a joke, this company is a literal cancer it is literally more cost efficient to get rid of the health insurance system and have the government administer health care......

Cigna is the most garbage insurance company I have ever had. Three times now, I have gone to healthcare providers IN their network, been told up front that my services would be covered, only to be notified at a later date that they would not be covered, and that I was responsible for footing the bill. Avoid them like the plague, because that's what they are. I'm doing everything I can to get my employer to switch back to United. I wish I could give them zero stars.

THEY ARE THE WORST INSURANCE COMPANY I HAVE EVER EVER DELT WITH THERE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS CRAP,SERVICE THEY PROVIDE IS CRAP ,I LITERALLY HAD TO GET INTO IT WITH THEM ABOUT A DOCTORS OFFICE THAT WAS TRYING SINCE JAN TO HAVE THEM FOR INSURANCE ,IT WASENT UNTILL I TOOK THINGS IN MY OWN HANDS!!!!!!! TRUST ME YOU DO NOT WANT THEM FOR INSURANCE!!! AND I HAVE HAD MY SHARE OF INSURANCES, AND WHAT REALLY BLEW MY MIND ,I Google THE TOP TEN ,AND THEY WEAR IN THE TOP 5 OMG ACTUALLY AM CANCELING THEM TODAY I HAVE BEEN THU MORE RED TAPE THAN ANY OTHER INSURANCE COMPANY!!!!!!
