My company switched insurance providers from Excellus to Cigna effective Jan 1st 2023. I go to my pharmacy to get a my migrane prescription filled. Doctors prescription is 12 pills per month. Excellus filled this prescription for 10 years. Cigna will only approve 6 pills every 22 days. Cigna claims they are following FDA guidelines. This is a FALSE statement. I signed into my Cigna account and reach out to a Cigna chat rep. 20 minutes into my chat the chat rep stated " Cigna reduces pill counts to reduce cost & control drug abuse". In order to increase the monthly pill count my doctor has to call Cigna and substantiate the rationale for the increased monthly pill count. I asked who pays for the doctors time to make this call. According to Cigna's chat rep that cost is not covered by Cigna. I go back to my earlier comment EXCELLUS COVERED MY MIGRANE PRESCRIPTION FOR 10+ YEARS. My company switched from Excellus to Cigna to lower annual healthcare costs. Corporate costs may decrease however employee cost will increase. Cigna has one goal - make the life of their clients as miserable as possible. Cigna a job well done!

I have tried three times now to get basic birth control covered- including a generic that is listed on their app as being covered for no cost. All of them have been denied. I have never had trouble getting birth control before.

Terrible. If you have a choice - avoid Cigna. They work hard to find reasons to not cover anything. That's the only thing they work hard at.

I have been locked in a 5-month-long battle to get reimbursed for claims (which I paid for in-full, out of pocket) that were incorrectly processed as in-network when my healthcare provider was, in fact, out-of-network. Over this time, both my provider and I have continued to call customer service to sort out the issue, however during every single call, the representatives have zero context, continue to go through the same process of submitting claims for re-review, and deliver empty platitudes. It is a cycle with no end. This episode reveals a fundamental lack of patient-centricity at this organization, which is rich considering their purported Purpose is about improving the well-being and peace of mind for those they serve. A little advice for Cigna leadership: demonstrate your values through your actions. Right now, you're just another company who says they care, but continues to show that you simply don't.

My company started new with Cigna on 1/1/23. The nightmare began. After 16 hours on the phone on 3 different calls I finally discovered that Cigna has not trained their foreign call center reps to understand mycigna accounts. You must immediately tell them you want a US mainland based representative. Then be prepared for another wait. That only starts the next nightmare. They were sent my preauthorization request on 1/10/23. The didn't acknowledge it until 1/20/23. On 1/31/23 they sent out a rejection letter that takes 7-10 days to receive which only gives you a 72 hour time to appeal. The rejection letter is a hodge-podge of medial word salad that my cardiologist said is total nonsense. They claim exemptions to support the rejection when they have not seen or asked for blood tests, physician reports, etc., to support the rejection. It "feels" like it's all about just rejecting expensive RX and stalling until people give up or die. Now starting the whole mess over again with a new RX product. This company should be investigated by the Arizona Insurance Commission.

I had a nasal obstruction that caused sleep problems and needed surgery. I pre-approved this surgery, which was covered by my plan, for 3 months in advance with cigna. Everything was OK from their side. Then I had the surgery. After sending them the invoices, cigna told me nearly 18 months later (yes, thats how long the whole process took) that they will not pay, because somewhere in the process I mentioned that I had a stuffy nose every now and then as a child. They said this was me withholding information from them when signing the contract about the sickness that was already there during childhood. Which I cannot prove, because I was never at the doctor because of my nose, because there was never any real reason to go to the doctor because of a stuffy nose as a child. All in all, an absolutely horrible experience, waiting for customer service/phone replies for months and months (18!), while it seems like they actively try to lengthen the process of replying to you so that you give up trying. Basically, if anything ever happens to you and there is even the slightest possibility of them denying you the payment, you can be sure that they will do EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER to find that exclusion clause to your policy, even if your procedure is 100% covered by your plan.

Wish i couldn't even give them a start, they rejected me right away after i send an mri with result of a small endometrioma. This is nothing severe, just requires medical review and treatment, how on earth will they reject me if is not severe? The guy i spoke to plain and simple is worthless and doesnt even know what endometriosis is, plus why would you reject someone that basically is money for the company paying from the start!!!!!! None insurance rejects you unless you are dying, no wonder their online rates is 2 out of 5
