My physician referred me to therapy for bicep tendinitis. The PT I was sent to definitely noticed the range of motion in beginning of my shoulder therapy was limited. The pain prior was severe, and I had lived with it for months, but after my physician referred me to PT within a few weeks I began to improve the pain and motion. I received a letter from Cigna recently, and after several weeks of PT, that Cigna would not cover the cost for my therapy! Will I receive a hefty out of pocket bill now for therapy that they deem I didn't need even though my physician referred me and Physical therapist noted and felt the limited range and impingement? In all the numerous years I've been with Cigna this is the FIRST of this incident! This insurance has some explaining to do. I had to also fight recently to have a bill removed from my wife's visit because they claimed the Patient First doctor she saw was not in network and Cigna tried to say the doctor was not in network when in actuality the doctor was in network! We would have forked over a hefty bill for a visit that the doctor could not even treat my wife because the facility was not equipped for the sanitary conditions required to examine the open excision that my wife thought was infected. The doctor never even treated my wife at Patient First so there should not have even been a bill to begin with! What is going on with Cigna? What has changed? This Insurance company is the worst for care now and I don't trust this company at all now!

After writing a review re: poor service I resounded to the CignaLet me help email. A PR person contacted and seemed to be working on the problem. With my direction she uncovered the mistake made by ASH. Next, she dropped contact like a hot potato. This is a tactic used by Cigna customer service as well. They could just pay the claim, but spend hours of your time thinking you might be able to get eligible benefits covered. It is abusive!

I rang Cigna today to review my life insurance. I selected the phone extension for existing policy holders. I waited for 25 minutes, the music stopped, seemed like someone had answered my call but no voice then line was disconnected. Not wanting to waste another half hour of my day I tried the line for if you wanted to take out a new policy, this call was answered within a minute. After 12 minutes found out this person couldn't give me the required information but would send a message to someone who could and they would ring me this afternoon. I waited at least an hour and rang again. This time 11 minutes then no music, seemed like someone was going to answer my call., this time static sound, no voice, line went dead again! Rang 4th time took option for new policy purchase, call was answered within a minute. He couldn't help me but put me on hold while he found someone who was trained in 'all areas'. I got to speak to this person, he couldn't help me either but took down the information I required and said someone would email me with the information this afternoon. It's now 6.45pm and I haven't received any email. The fact they must be significantly understaffed to deal with existing policy holders indicated by long and unacceptable wait times and being cut off, and for enquiry about getting a new policy department who can answer a call within a minute suggests where their priority lies. They want to sell new policies but can't look after/give satisfactory customer service to existing policy holders. This took up alot of time out of my day and still no answer, I'm appalled at the incompetence and very frustrated. Would never take out a policy with them again.

I have a Cigna Medicare Advantage PPO Medicare plan. It is supposed to pay my dental 100% up to $2000. I filed for my reimbursement for my out of network dentist, Cigna would only pay $48 of the $124 I paid to the dentist. First of all, it should not have been discounted at all per my contract. Second, even if it should have been discounted, the discount is 20%, not the 60% they discounted my payment. I filed a complaint with Medicare and a Cigna representative called me (first time ever receiving a call from them) and said it had been corrected and my check was in the mail. When I didn't receive the check, I called and was told they are still working on it. This company is a joke. I can call ten times (which I did) and get a different answer every time. The best solution of all was told to me by a Grievance department supervisor - Suck it up and get a new dentist!! Very professional. Update: they are not paying my claim. Still saying my dentist is in network, even though she’s not. They are sooooooo dishonest. Update: Cigna sent me the reply below. The status of my review is denied because they unlawfully put my dentist in network even though my dentist has told them repeatedly that they do not accept or file for Medicare. They must not know that I have spent more than 50 hours on the phone with Cigna. I have been hung up on, I have been lied to just to get me off the phone and I have been promised that everything was fixed when it was not. I am not going to spend my time writing a letter to them when it is of no use. They can call me if they would like. I will not waste my time calling them AGAIN!! My Cigna number is 36245374.

Scum bags. The lot of them. They screw you around and collect billions of dollars off our incompetence and stupidity. $76.05B last year and the IVR is garbage, they employ useless morons who can’t understand a thing and even when you are right, they will send you down some bs process that ensures it’s not worth it. I’ve been fighting for $20 for longer than I can justify and while my issue is minor - I guarantee this is systemic and happens to everyone regardless of cost. If you don’t have the patience of a saint or thousands of dollars at stake, good luck getting a dime of your own money back from these shysters.

Absolutely a horrible and ineffective company! When open enrollment arrives in October I am switching. They deposit a check I sent on 5/12, it clears my account on 5/15 and 3 weeks later they suspend my account saying they need more time to process a $66 check that cleared my bank account weeks ago. Talk about a mickey mouse company.

The only option is to at least give one star. Or I’d give less. I’ve been on hold for almost 3 hours today. Since February a request has been sent and resent every 10 days for what is not only medically necessary but the only treatment available for my illness. Cigna has either ignored, entered the information incorrectly or just denied the treatment. The treatment is too costly to just go get with insurance assistance. Their employees seem helpful however they just repeat back what someone who refuses to speak to you tells them to say. I switched to Cigna because the generic insurance company I had seemed less than what I needed. Turns out Cigna is probably the worst group of humans on the planet. They would rather force me to have another (2 already) EMG, another spinal tap, more blood drawn, more MRI’s and CT scans to try and get a new diagnosis. I can’t believe we live in a country that allows its citizens to be ignored on hold for hours and then lied to. I don’t even know what to do. They aren’t even worth the time I’m taking to type this out. Hopefully one person reads this review and it saves them the time I’ve lost.
