I am from a provider's office
I am from a provider's office. I called to follow up payment for the claims we submitted for regular teeth cleaning appointment. I got the representative Alicia ref # 3063. She is the rudest representative i have ever talked to from Cigna. She did not offer any help on the none payment of our claims just a straight forward " you are still within the 15 days processing" I asked why this claim was still pending while the patient's other family member was already paid and they are in the same subscriber id. Alicia cannot provide me a good reason. She kept on saying the claim is still within the 15 days processing. I asked for the supervisor to talk to since she cannot explain why the claim was pended. She kept quiet and told me " WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT ME TO TELL YOU!" This representative should be sent to training for customer service proper way of speaking to Providers and must be taught how to work their system and find and explain why a claim was on a pending status! The claim is just for cleaning and exam and Alicia cannot explain why it was on a pending status?!!! I asked for a supervisor and she kept quiet. She has no manners at all ! She is ruining the image that Cigna is trying to build!

CIGNA SUCKS
I sent a letter to Cigna saying CIGNA SUCKS. There were a couple of times that the doctor's office said they take Cigna, only to find that Cigna denied the claim and I had to pay out of pocket. I couldn't afford that mistake again, so I called Cigna to determine coverage on a Dermatoligist visit for a potentially cancerous cell and they told me that it might be covered and maybe not and that I shuold call in advance for authorization to a biopsy. I will not know if anything needs done until I visit the doctor. I WANT OUT OF CIGNA ASAP.

Absolutely Unreliable — Left Me With a Bill and No Coverage
Cigna completely failed me. I signed up for a plan through the Marketplace and paid my first premium on February 2nd, assuming my coverage would start February 1st. I was NEVER told the payment would be applied to January, and I received no clear notice that my plan was terminated — not until May 2nd, months later.
In March, a Cigna rep told me my plan was active, so I took my son to the doctor. That claim was later denied. I offered to pay for February and March just to get the visit covered, and they told me I’d have to pay all the way through June AND cancel my current plan — even though they already refused to cover the care we got while I was told we had coverage.
On top of that, I never received my insurance card, kept getting mixed messages every time I called, and was left with an unexpected bill. The way this was handled was unprofessional, confusing, and honestly felt predatory.
I do not trust Cigna, and I would never recommend them to anyone.

Cigna doesn't care
I had Cigna dental for a few years and the plan was ok. I got new insurance in May
2025 and called Cigna on 5/2/25 to cancel my policy and auto-pay. The
representative asked me if i wanted to cancel the May payment. I said yes, since I
was cancelling the policy, I wouldn't need a payment for May. The representative
told me that it would take 3 business days to cancel the policy and 7 days for a
written confirmation.
On 5/21/25 I received an email indicating my account was past due. I called
customer service immediately and was told that the policy was scheduled to be
cancelled 5/31/35, the May payment was due, and an auto-payment was scheduled
for 6/5/25.
On 5/2, the rep (Matt) did not tell me the cancellation would occur 5/31 and that the
May payment was required to be paid. Why would he ask if I wanted to cancel the
May payment if he knew the policy had to remain in effect until 5/31 and a payment
would be required? Incompetence or lack of training from Cigna.
On 5/21, after 40 minutes on the phone with the billing department, they said if I
didn't pay the May payment, they would send it to collections. I shouldn't be
penalized for Cigna's incompetence.
The billing supervisor stuck to the script and didn't attempt to resolve the issue that
was caused by their employee's error. The only recourse I have is to make the
payment to avoid being sent to collections and write this review. Is it too much to
ask that companies actually care about their customers and provide good customer
service? Cigna doesn't.

Deceptive and deceitful company
On the website and in documents available online, it states that crowns are covered at 50%. The website shows the contracted price , with my in network dentist, for a porcelain crown is $793.00 with Cigna paying $396.50. This is false. They stated the covered amount was only 580.00 with Cigna paying $290.00. Extremely poor foreign customer service. Did not understand anything that was not on their computer screen. Had to ask to speak to a CSR whose first language was English. Cigna customer service said that this policy had a downgraded option for crowns and they only covered the price of metal crowns. This is not stated on the website nor is it mentioned on any documents available for download. Cigna has shown itself to be a deceptive, deceitful and dishonest company. A complaint shall be made to the SC Insurance Commission and to AARP.
