I took up a three month policy with Cigna for my business travel to Brazil, from the outset i was specific about the dates i was travelling and therefore only required cover for those dates, Cigna then deducted funds off my account after this date and i am now in day 20 after this deduction was done still trying to get a refund! then i am now told i need to give them 7 days notice! even after i was specific about the dates i needed the cover for. i have also found their rates completely overpriced and will never take cover with this company again. Everytime i had a query i spoke to a different person in a different department about my policy, their telephone lines kept cutting out too.

I am declining my employer's health plan because it is Cigna.
Never bothered to call customer service.
I have been to the web site to locate “in-network” doctors. After making an appointment, I often get a call back notifying me that they are not “in-network”. I have gone to specialist three times. All three times I learned that the specialist was either not “in-network” or “not covered”. I gave up. I suppose Cigna is happy with that.
The prescription deductibles are often higher than the cash price of many of the prescriptions, so I often pay cash for my prescriptions. I am sure Cigna is OK with that.
Cigna also shares your information with partners such as “IdentityForce” and “Recovery One”. No, they do not ask for permission before doing so. The customer finds out when the party starts calling, texting, and emailing. It took almost three months to get “Recovery One” to stop calling me, asking if I wanted physical therapy for my surgery. I guess they do not know that eye surgery does not require physical therapy. I am surprised they did not call me asking if I wanted physical therapy after I had a broken tooth fixed.
Oh, and just to let you know, I paid cash for both surgeries myself because Cigna figured out how limit their liability to almost nothing. Also know that I was legally blind before I had YAG laser eye surgery to restore my vision (no not Lasik).
Being that I have to pay cash anyway, and Cigna does not respect my privacy, I have elected to opt-out of my employer’s health plan this spring when the open enrollment period begins. Why am I paying Cigna $500 a month, and getting almost nothing for it? Public, and non-profit healthcare are readily available in my town. Furthermore, many private providers have special pricing for the uninsured if you bother to ask for it, and you pay cash on the day of the service. I earn a middle class salary, so paying cash is not a problem.

Was on hold too long
Was going to take out insurance with cigna but after 1hr and 11mins on hold to get a quote I gave up, then I looked at the reviews.... Probably should have looked at the reviews first!!! Not sure what their insurance is like hence I gave 2 stars

Very disappointing first impression
I have tried ringing, requested a call back, used the contact facility in the portal and emailed the UKHB email address given in the automated phone message and received no response other than a server message telling me that my email had been rejected.
I need to speak to someone regarding pre-authorisation for a referral. While the consultant I hope to see works for Cigna UK’s preferred provider, theassessment costs £1200. I don’t want to book an assessment only to find that my claim is not authorised.
I have just forwarded my email to the US email address given, but this is no way to run a service!
We have had healthcare schemes with previous companies and have got through in minutes any time we have called. We have never come across a healthcare service like this.
All organisations have been affected by the pandemic, but most by now have developed very effective ways of working online.
Having read reviews citing the issues experienced by members in the past few weeks, I do wonder if customer service difficulties in the UK go beyond the constraints of pandemic working.
Update: I am pleased to report that I have had an initial reply from the US customer service team. Hopefully they will be able to assist.
Latest update - on the phone for a further 30 minutes today with no success. Have now taken the callback option but am not hopeful. Still no update from the LetUsHelpU team after the initial email yesterday asking for my DOB.
GP has now written referral letter, I have identified a consultant who operates through the preferred provider, and T&Cs indicate that an assessment will be covered, but until I can get pre-authorisation of my claim, I am unable to proceed.
I note a press article referring to 36 jobs axed at Cigna in Scotland, and wonder if this may be the reason that so many people are unable to get through?
27/5 - I appreciate the reply from JW at Cigna, but I have already contacted this email address and provided my DOB as requested, and I am still awaiting a response.
28/5 - received a call-back and the team couldn’t have been more helpful. My pre-authorisation is now in place. However, I almost gave up pursuing this medical assessment because of the extended call waiting, etc.
I hope that the customer service team is bolstered as soon as possible, so that existing staff aren’t over-loaded and response times can return to an acceptable level.

Pretty poor services
Pretty poor services, paying premium rates with no customer service, obsolete systems and still dealing with paper letters! When things are straight forward is all good, hence why an extra star, if there is a query or claim get rejected for whatever reason then this is when the problem starts! Obviously customer service department has massive issues! Only way to re-submit claim is via post!!?? I wouldn’t recommend unless big shake up and digital improvements are made.
Is! Thanks for your response, I have already emailed on the link you suggested but have received no help so far!

I've just phoned Cigna Dental Helpline
I've just phoned Cigna Dental Helpline, and after their recorded reply to 'hold' as all advisers are engaged, the line goes dead! This happened 4 times. Unfortunately it is a corporate supplier selected by my company, and cannot choose another. Before Cigna, we used to have DENPLAN which was superior to Cigna. To maintain a balance to this narrative, I must say that the turnaround to repay expenses has been good, hence why I increased from 1 star to 2 stars! Their web portal is clunky - I've seen and experienced better portals! I'm still waiting to hear from Cigna about funding for a treatment plan. An agent called yesterday at 3.29 pm, but despite calling back at 3.30 pm, a recorded message was played out basically saying we know we called you, and we will call you at "a later date if necessary"!

Decepcionado

Bad contracts with care providers - self pay is cheaper
This was a second time I encountered a weird situation: the self-pay rate of the provider was materially (like $100+) less than the contract/allowed amount under my insurance. And since I have a high-deductible health plan all this premium comes out of MY pocket.
I have never experienced things like this before with other insurers. I thought insurance is supposed to save you money, not pay you more for care when you already pay the premiums
