First time to do this.

Deceptive pricing that will cost you hundreds more than advertised. I signed up for a $79.99 background check package and was invoiced over $368 with zero upfront disclosure of additional fees. Checkr's "passthrough fees" for employment verification alone added $182.90 - charges they admit they cannot predict at time of order, meaning you have no way to make an informed decision before they run your check. When I disputed the invoice, they refused a refund or credit memo. When I canceled my credit card due to an unrelated fraud issue, they used Chase's account updater service to obtain my new card number and charge it anyway - without my authorization. I am now disputing both charges with my bank and filing complaints with the FTC and Washington State Attorney General. Do not use Checkr if you are a small business that needs predictable costs. The advertised price means nothing.

This company has an absolutely terrible platform. There’s no way to talk to any person who can actually help you with your issues, it’s near impossible to reset your password to file a claim. Absolutely terrible experience.

FAST & EFFICIENT

This complaint is in regards to deceptive trade practices and false advertising by Checkr. I purchased a background check for myself on April 30 because they advertised customers getting results instantly and something like 89% or 98% of customers getting reports within a hour. This information was clearly advertised on their website. After I paid for the report a message on the bottom of the page read that some reports may take 1 to 3 days. Today, May 6, I requested a refund for services that I never received and was denied. I was just offered a generic apology generated by some AI robot. I was never even able to communicate with a real person. Checkr scammed me out of $100 by misleading me to believe I would receive a service that they never provided and also advertised 24/7 customer service that turned out to be a AI generated robot. Please don’t lose your money and be treated like I was.May 10, today I still have not received my refund or even heard from them.

They have 0 support. They use automated background checks that are wrong - The code is wrong - They will ask for inconsistent information They are not ready to process background checks from international candidates.

Im 72 yrs old only had two speeding tickets one was because my speedometer was broken the other one was when I was going down hill and a cop was sitting at the bottom.but I knew their company was bullshit when on the front page they said they found several criminal records and that is liable since I have never been arrested EVER so where did they get their bs report and who have they sent this pack of lies to which it looks like they are in the business of ruining people's lives

Doing a background check on yourself should be free, you would obviously be doing it to make sure there isn't incorrect information on it because you know what is in your background.
