The turnaround time was supposed to be 10 minutes, but it turned into 24 hours then 72 hours and then 2 weeks (which isn't guaranteed). I have screenshots to prove it, but no option to upload. These Checks clowns are an absolute joke.

This is one of the worst background check companies out there. They take weeks to complete a yearly background check. They are costing me money on Rideshare because of their ineptness. This company doesn't even offer a phone number to call. They make you speak with some AI that is utterly useless. I am praying that they try and find a criminal background. Something to keep in mind if you are a law-abiding citizen and they turn you into a criminal. Hire a Consumer Attorney and file a lawsuit for damages. I had no choice but to file suit against one of these companies that almost cost me a job. I did receive a settlement after about 6 months. Do not let these companies jeopardize your future!

EDIT: I received immediate and helpful correspondence from a senior specialist at Checkr after posting this. They apologized and also provided me the info that I was missing. I wish that their customer service team was trained to prevent issues like this from needing escalation, but nonetheless I appreciate their follow-up and have updated to a 3-star review. I had a Checkr bg check done about 3 years ago and it went smoothly and all checks came back OK. I accepted an offer for a new position (tech, not Uber) and submitted the check the same day I received it (Sep 19th). Monday I get an update saying that it will not be completed until October 7th. Then a few days later a text that says it's extended until October 19th. That's a full month, and is two weeks past my start date. Nothing has changed since I got my last check other than a new BS and an additional job. I logged them into ADP to verify the employer, and the transcripts should be easy to find. I tried to contact customer service and provided birth cert, ss card, passport, and DL, but they didn't read the form request and sent generic response letters instead. This company is a joke. There's too much on the line for them to be so cavalier with their customer service practices.

Can not handle background checks in a timely manner. Every other company on the face of the planet can get it done within 3 days. They have me waiting 4 weeks. I reached out to ask what was going on and if we could speed it up. They refused to do anything. Tried to blame my city and county but I have never had an issue here before.

Won’t answer the phone. They won’t reply when they need to contacted. I’ve been out of work because of a simple background about my drivers license and now it’s keeping me from working. This is unacceptable.

NO STARS THIS COMPANY DOES NOT DO BACKGROUND CHECKS! They are basing their checks on ppl calling in and reporting! Placing things on your background check that are accusations! Ppl calling in to a company that uses this service & without a conviction (SIMPLY AN ACCUSATION) the’re calling it “On your background check!” That is not how that works!!! ANYONE & I mean ANYONE can call and claim you’ve done something wrong. And checkr considered a criminal offense. And “adds “it to your background check. COMPLETE BULLSHIT!!!! I know felons doing Uber & Lyft and Uber & Lyft exclusively uses CHECKR WAKE UP PEOPLE! This service is FAKE AF!!!!

In June of 2026 (less than 3 months prior to the writing of this review) Checkr completed a background check on me in under 2 minutes. About a week ago, a I received a once in a lifetime job offer. The only catch? Firm start date of 09/15/26. No problem! I accepted, gave notice to my current employer, and immediately filled out the Checkr email from HR. The ETA was initially Fri 09/11/26. That got updated to 09/18/26. And now, on 09/13/26, I just received an email that the new ETA is... OCTOBER 26! HR has already reached out to say they may have to rescind the offer because they cannot wait 6 weeks. Honestly, I don't blame them. I do blame Checkr. Despite the recent check having cleared in 2 minutes, nothing in my life having changed since then, an absolutely squeaky clean record, and me having worked for many years in secure federal settings requiring MUCH more extensive background investigations than this, Checkr thinks a 6 week turnaround is appropriate. Wildly unprofessional. I have tried to reach out the Checkr directly several times and simply get an automated chatbot. What a world we live in, where the fate of your family's well-being depends in part on a faceless company that can't be bothered to do their job, causing you to lose yours. Shame on Checkr. Shame. FYI in case you are in a similar situation: The FCRA requires these companies to follow "reasonable procedures" in the procurement and assembly of background reports. California also has voluntary-assumption for forseeable negligence. As well as law on negligent interference with prospective economic advantage. Potentially negligent misrepresentation if you relied on the given ETA for other actions (such as resigning from your current job). I am not an attorney and this is not legal advice.

Would give them negative stars if possible. They reported my daughters driver license from 12 years ago when she was a minor and reported suspended. She hasnt even lived in that simce then, but moving back. She uploaded her current info but simce they have no number to speak to anyone, she is just screwed for their invlcompetence. Terrible site to use as they clearly don't really do a thorough background check. Who knows who you are hiring with these inept practices.
