Worst chargers and network
Worst chargers and network. Tried using the ones at East Midlands Designer Outlet. Most chargers not working. But each time you attempt, it authorises £50 on your card without informing you, even if the charge never starts because it’s broken. Called customer service and they were no help. Have to wait a few working days for the authorisation to be removed, even though these can be removed immediately. £150 down for a few days and no charge. Others were also having issues at the same time. Do not use these chargers.
Response from ChargePointJul 1, 2025
Hello Jack Wilkinson, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience — we're genuinely sorry to hear about the trouble you faced at East Midlands Designer Outlet. We understand how frustrating it is to have multiple failed charging attempts and see multiple authorisation holds on your card, especially when no charging session actually begins. The authorisation process is meant to ensure funds are available before a charge starts, but it's clear this created an unexpected burden, and we’re sorry for that. While authorisation holds are released by us immediately upon a failed session, the actual clearing timeline depends on your bank’s policies — though we agree it shouldn’t take days. We're currently investigating the issues reported at that location and working with our technical team to get faulty chargers back online. If you haven’t already, please reach out to us with the ChargePoint registered email address and we will look into this for you. We appreciate your patience and will work hard to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
