myQ is locked to Chamberlain's app - not a good fit for smart-home users
If you run Home Assistant or any other local smart-home setup, know what you're buying. myQ openers used to work with Home Assistant through a community integration, until Chamberlain shut off that access. Now you're pushed into their app, which shows ads, or into a small list of approved paid partners. I've opened several support cases asking for an official Home Assistant integration and gotten the same canned "security" answer every time. Those concerns could be solved by working with Home Assistant on an official integration instead of blocking it. The opener still works, but the "smart" part is only on Chamberlain's terms. If you want real local control, buy a different opener or add an independent controller (e.g., ratgdo, Shelly, Meross) to a basic opener.
