Care.com was a wonderful business that was founded in the early aughts by a smart woman, whose focus seemed to be providing excellent service and having happy customers. I remember in its early days, it felt like the people who ran and worked for the company really cared about helping customers who needed services find good service providers nearby. So, the business was successful, it had an IPO and was ultimately acquired by IAC, a large company that has a sizeable global portfolio of media and digital businesses that generate ~$2.4B/year. As part of this holding company, Care.com's service has deteriorated. Now, when I post a job, I receive what feel like auto-generated applications--i.e., the so-called "applicants" haven't even read my job description/requirements, so they don't realize that they're not a fit. Sometimes, they're not even in my geographic area. Plus, I suspect that many of them wouldn't have applied if they had actually read my job description. Sending me auto-generated applications is a total waste of my time and very annoying. I also don't like the fact that IAC converts you to an auto-renewing membership if you want to be able to communicate with applicants. Who the heck is going to hire a nanny, housekeeper or dogwalker without communicating with them? Bottom line: What used to be a nice, useful personal service business, now feels like a completely impersonal and scammy money-making SaaS platform machine. No like.

I have used the CARE platform off and on for the last decade or more. It's always been a decent experience overall imo. However, I only recently found myself in need of it again after a few years absence and was met with a very pleasant updated experience. They've implemented a video interview call feature that is a game changer and time saver. I was able to interview several potential sitters in a matter of a few days without having to bring them onsite to my home prematurley. The only negative, if you could even consider it one, is that the video feature needs to implement the standard background filtering or at minimum blur. Overall, no complaints... Good Job CARE team.

I’ve been using Care.com for many years and it’s been an incredibly reliable resource for our family. Through the platform, I’ve found both amazing long-term nannies and great short-term caregivers when we’ve needed support while traveling. One of the features I appreciate most is the transparency—you can see how many families have hired a caregiver and read detailed reviews, which makes it much easier to make confident decisions. The messaging feature is also very convenient, allowing for easy communication throughout the process. Posting a job is simple, and I’ve consistently received strong applicants quickly. Overall, it’s a user-friendly platform that has made finding trusted childcare much easier over the years.

I used this several years ago and was pleased with it. I have no idea what happened but it’s now disappointing. Their app, their customer service ..horrible. To go from an excellent service to horrible in every aspect is a big disappointment. I would NOT recommend.

I have been impressed with Care.com’s easy to understand format and its ability to put together people who need care and those who offer care. I appreciate the yearly background checks, being able to leave a review of care providers once the job has finished, and the reach it offers to provide care to people outside of my usual group of friends.
