Easy to book. However, our sitter canceled last minute. Overcharged and said my post did not give location when it clearly did. When she did show up one night and was 1.5 hours late and demanded we pay her travel!

This is still the defacto standard for finding caregivers but as a parent, I was really disappointed in the fact that I could post a job for free but then not be able to communicate with any applicants unless I paid for the premium membership… the UX is also not intuitive at all and incredibly outdated.

I’ve used care.com for years . First as an employer searching for dog care , then a companion for mom . Now the last few years for a PT position for myself , with elder or child care . I always had much success . However their site has changed a bit , as all do over the years . I have now responded to 102 positions and only 19 have been read! Many that I apply too are recently posted - so why is my response not even being read !! Let me mention that my bio is excellent having been a professional for 30+ years, and I have several photos and many wonderful reviews from past employers on my profile as well . I have called care.com numerous times , as well as several emails . All they can tell me is - my account is active and fine and that people post jobs before they pay a subscription fee. If they don’t pay the subscription fee they cannot read any applicants that are applying . Ok I get that however - 102 applications I’ve sent and only 19 possible employers even read them . That’s absurd! Something is not right and I’d like to finally find out what it is ? I do want to add that their site is easy to navigate , they do have a phone # for customer service and I have found several positions thru their site so I will continue to use care.com .

There was a "family" pretending to look for a nanny, but they were scammers. It didn't happen again, but it looks like the app needs more safety checks for new members on the app. This happened in April 16, 2024.

I like that care.com connects caregivers with prospective clients. I don’t like that my profile doesn’t show up when someone else searches for a sitter in my zip code. My price list doesn’t show on my profile page (I had to type it into my About Me section). New users should receive brief tutorial on how to navigate booking process (ie phone numbers aren’t public, marking “hired” doesn’t confirm bookings, payments not handled in app). Austin is a big town - show us where jobs are located on a map so we can determine if it meets our criteria. Require clients show profile photos (like sitters do). Too many spam jobs. Allow caregivers to customize their profile URL link. Send reminder notifications when someone doesn’t respond to direct messages within 24 hours (I had someone who claimed she couldn’t message me after she clicked on ‘hired’ which makes no sense). Implement parameters to intercept fake job postings.

The website is great for the client experience but lacking structure for the providers.

It’s an okay app. I get some offers but it’s get responses quickly after applying for so many.
