I like that this site helps people find help. I only needed a person one day to take my elderly mother to her granddaughter's wedding. I found this person eight weeks in advance and did not renew for the criminal checks after one month. I am still getting many requests for this position. It seems I am not allowed to contact anyone to say no thank you. I feel this is rude. I read we should not give our phone numbers to the person we hired, however, if I had not done so I would have no way of keeping in touch with the person I have hired. Some changes need to be made. Maybe I don't understand how to post that this position is filled so that people would not think this position is still open.

Jennifer is the best! dependable, reliable, trustworthy, compassionate, sweet. I can travel again without ever worrying about my two dogs.

At first glance it seems like there are a lot of available sitters; however, most don't reply and they reply and their availability is not what is listed on the site.

I needed a "date night babysitter" ASAP -- as my other "go to" sitter had to cancel. My husband and I were going a friend's birthday and didn't want to miss it. I put a short ad on Care.com and received several responses ASAP. Some of the sitters chose to send me very long notes about themselves which I know they copied and pasted...and didn't answer my questions which I think is silly. Others were very honest and I had a hard time choosing which people I would interview! I had to close the job after a few hours because I had so many "takers." I found one sitter in my own searches and she was awesome. I met her at a Starbucks with my son and we all just "clicked." I hired her on the spot - I had looked at her background and reviews so knew she was good. And she was and now she is my "go to" sitter. Responsible. Sweet. Prompt. Cleaned up the dinner dishes (I didn't ask her to do that). She was easy and my son LOVED her!

Pros ------ - High traffic / choices in caregivers - Many useful FAQs/ Help guides - Payroll / Scheduling features Cons ------- - Very loose / weak search criteria (e.g. cannot search on language spoken) - Applicant list is not intuitively made available in the portal, you have to drill into messages - Messages do not have thumbnail pictures of applicants

My experience w/ Care.com has been rather bad! The website setup nice & their customer service support is very pleasant but I have posted 3 jobs on this site to no avail. It has essentially been a waste of money. Their background checks are not very thorough. The only applicant I got for the three jobs i posted, was someone who was mentally disabled & had recently had CPS take her child for neglect. Also, their list of sitters/nannies is not up to date. I sent messages to at least 10 sitters/nannies that had posted on their site & only one responded that she was no longer available. For $40 a month, it was a ripoff!!!!!

This is the second time we tried finding a nanny using this site. The majority of results are for babysitters and so many people don't respond. It is a waste of money unless you are looking for a babysitter. The fee in general is too high. Searching on this site and keeping favorites, etc. is also hard to navigate and could be more user friendly.
