In 2005 I found myself suddenly unemployed after 27 years with a corporation and I didn't know what to do and where to turn to. I lost my house, my car and had to start all over with nothing but my personal clothing and items. Without CARE.com I don't know where I'd be right now. I started a transportation service, but I live in a very small town and couldn't make enough money to support myself. I began looking for employment on the internet and my major interest was in childcare. I have loved and cared for children since I was one. They always bring light, laughter and affection into my life and I felt I had so much love and affection to give to a child and their family. I eventually came across CARE.com and found my answer. I completed my profile, uploaded some pictures, had a background check and began my search. My search immediately found several families looking for a Nanny and submitted applications to those I felt would be the best fit for me. At that point my new career was born and I've never used any other medium since that day to find a position. The families have been without exception what they have portrayed themselves to be and I've loved the children and derived so much satisfaction and pride in the care I provided to those families. Another benefit is that I've made new and lasting friendships because of my involvement with CARE.com and continue to stay in contact with what I affectionately call "My Families". I would absolutely recommend this site to anyone looking for personal help or those who want to provide it. The site has been extremely helpful in answering any questions or concerns I have. Usually within 24 hours and they are also available via phone. The customer service is beyond reproach and wlll answer any concern no matter how many times they're contacted. Thank you so much Care.com for compiling and keeping track of all the information necessary to keep this site up-to-date and a viable option for finding help or personal employment. I am returning to Care.com because we are moving. I first joined them to find a housekeeper who could also do personal services like laundry. There were several to interview and choose from and I ended up very, very happy with my choice. Now that I am moving too far away from our present housekeeper, I will be going through the process again and will be using the company to find a new housekeeper for our new home. Without this service, it really would be blind luck. With this service, we can interview several qualified candidates, have them go through a proper background check, and be confident we will hire someone who we will be happy with, and who will be happy with us. Thank you!

Watch out - membership automatically rolls over, so set a reminder on your calendar to downgrade before you get charged again. You will get responses, but not all the respondents will have seemed to have read your ad, so don't assume. Also, not everyone keeps their availability updated, as you can imagine. Love that I can search by proximity and transportation.

I easily joined care.com and advertised looking for daily pet care for my cats when I am out of town for several days at a time. I travel with my work and need a dependable person with whom I could build a trusting relationship to last for as long as necessary. I had several very good candidates apply so it was difficult to choose. However, I started with the person who responded first, Sarah Partee. She ended up being perfect - lovely young woman, experienced cat lover and pet caretaker, responsible college student, customer focused and willing to accommodate my schedule. She has now provided care several times and I am completely comfortable with her in my home and attending to my most important possessions. Thank you Care.com for making a wonderful match between me, my kitties and Sarah!

The software behind Care.com is not bad but the people that provide the care sure can be pretty bad. We contracted someone through Care.com but she missed the first day because of a surprise tooth ache. Then two days later the same person came to work to look after our elderly 88 year-old mother and she had to leave almost immediately because she was having a reaction to her medication. It was two days after her emergency dental appointment. I'm surprised she waited two days to start medication from an emergency visit to a dentist. The rest of the workers I contacted were very poor at responding and very limited in their responses. One man even wrote back to me, twice - even though the post we put up specifically said we needed a female worker for my 88 year-old mother to help bathe her. I responded to his first message explaining that to him, yet he sent a second one still wanting the job to which I did not reply. If my mother wanted a male to bathe her I could do so or my brother could. Seems a number of the prospective workers have very limited ability to read for comprehension on this website and they just fire off messages like firing off resumes in random fashion without really researching the company or the job. I honestly cannot recommend this site to anyone for seeking elder care. I truly wish I could, but I can't. It seems that we are still quite a ways away from having a place where those caring for their parents and elders can find a pool of reliable and serious workers to recruit from all under one website. I spent 2 months on Care.com searching daily (1 month as a paid user after researching for 1 month free but without the ability to contact prospective caregivers through the site), sometimes several hours a day, and came up with practically nothing - I lost a lot of time and worse, my mother went without help. I have been trying to find a trustworthy and reliable person to clean my house (for 3 months) for $20 to 25 an hour. I have not yet had a good experience. I hired someone and she informed me halfway through cleaning (already paid her) they she had to leave early. Another girl cleaned well, but called off 80% of the time. Someone else quit before they started. I seriously do not know why it is so difficult to find someone to help me clean ???

This is rediculous. I upgraded to see the messages for my job posting and they aren't even being shown! They're there, somewhere, but cannot be seen. How do I see the messages that I paid extra to see?! Also, I want to pay minimum wage, but it makes me select $10/hr as the lowest. I cannot afford that and it's always a disappointment to any applicant. Overpriced for what it is.

I found a caring and responsible pet sitter who fit my needs exactly! I posted a job looking for a pet sitter for when I'm out of town. Within 24 hours I had received many great applications from experienced pet sitters. Having gone through other caregiver websites and having bad experiences with pet sitter I was sure to be upfront and specific in my job ad to weed out anyone not up for doing all that was required and this saved time by not having to communicate or interview people that wouldn't, for example, be able to visit the dogs 4x at the specific times I needed or if they were not willing to accept what I was offering to pay. I did receive a few applications from people with little to no experience and who didn't seem very eager in their response so I ignored those applications but I had so many great options that I was able to narrow applications down based on the sitter's proximity to my house. The Care.com website is very easy to use and that made posting an ad very quick and painless.
