Care.com taking advantage of nanny labor
Care.com has been a good way to find nanny jobs & get hired for one time bookings. Their own site touts no fees, besides the premium membership. About one week ago, they began charging at TEN PERCENT "service fee" for bookings. There was no explanation, rollout or reasoning given for this huge fee that was suddenly just being taken off MY work. This is highly suspicious, unprofessional & unethical behavior from what is supposed to be a trustworthy company. When I inquired via email, I finally got a response that said the fee is to support operational costs. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. Gross. (Note: ironically, care.com can respond to my REVIEW within hours. Emails from highly rated, long time client/nannies who have inquiries get responses in WEEKS. Also notable that the fact that they started this with no rollout, explanation, etc was completely not addressed in their response. Professionalism matters.)
