Charge you for background checks but dont tell you upfront the caregivers have to pay too, and if they dont, you just wasted your money. Horrible tactics, very few caregivers use it, hard to cancel and keep your messages. I wouldnt recommend using this site to my worst enemy.

Care is a scam. I have been disappointed with Care.com’s treatment of caregivers. The platform seems far more focused on collecting fees than on supporting the people who provide the actual care. Disputes are often handled in a way that favors paying families, and there is little recourse for caregivers when false or unfair reviews are posted. In my experience, communication limitations built into the site can prevent caregivers from clarifying misunderstandings or defending themselves. This not only hurts our reputations but also makes it harder to build trust with new families. I believe Care.com should invest more in fair dispute resolution, caregiver protections, and genuine support for those who make the platform possible. I had to get back in here to make an edit. Not only did they not reach out to me regarding my issue but when I did call the number provided to me for escalated issues the person hung up on me. To this day September 3rd 2025 nothing has been resolved and they haven’t reached out. As long as it is nothing directly affecting them they DO NOT CARE. Care.com is by far the worst and everyone’s experience is going to be different. Maybe I’m just treated this way because I’m not who they care about. They clearly have preferences and that’s their prerogative. I will never forgive care.com for being so careless and ignorant with my issue. They’re greedy and prejudice.

The billing & reimbursement have been a nightmare. I availed of back-up care for 1 day for the first time at a daycare, and Care.com will not reimburse unless you are able to complete their form which requires the daycare's director to sign. What daycare would bother with such requests?!! I called and emailed the daycare asking to sign Care.com's form about 1 week ago, and not surprisingly, I never heard back. So I may end up not being able to use my supposedly 5 allotted days for back-up daycare.

After being contacted by a Care.com salesperson, I was told they had several leads in my area actively looking for assisted living options. That representation is what convinced me to move forward with their service. Since signing up, I have only received one lead in five months — and that single lead was not qualified. Despite sending multiple emails requesting to cancel my subscription, the customer service team ignored my requests and went on to charge my card a full two weeks after I had clearly and repeatedly asked them to cancel. This experience has been extremely disappointing, both in terms of results and customer service. I would strongly caution others to be very careful before committing to this service.

**SCAM** I created an account and paid the monthly fee. Within an hour, my account was temporarily suspended due to “not following community guidelines.” What I did wrong, I have no idea! A week went by and my account was ultimately suspended. Did I receive a refund? NOPE! What a joke of a company! Look for sitters elsewhere..
