Almost unused Safari (Cannon) safe will no longer open. Tried 8 new batteries, none worked. Worse yet the people at Cannon (Safari) do not answer their published phone 847-665-1635. Nor do they answer their own online internet web communicator. Nor do they respond to emails (This site would not let me put the cannon email address in).
WARNING spend your money somewhere else.

Locking Mechanism/Customer Service Sucks
Had an issue with my cannon safe where the handle mechanism broke. Called cannon and they said that it is made to break in case someone tries to force it open. Makes sense but dumb. Anyways, have been on the phone with 2 people from from cannon for about 2 months now and they are finally getting a locksmith to come work on my safe. Well come to find out the parts still will not be in for another month and then the locksmith will come fix it. Well i discussed this with both guys i talked with multiple times and they both insisted that i would be in my safe 10 to 15 days upon contact, which may i remind you was 2 months ago. I told the 2nd person that i wanted them to just come drill my safe open because it has now become an issue and i need in it. Then i asked if they could send a second locksmith when the parts come in so that he can fix it. He proceeded to tell me that was not an option. I then questioned the lifetime warranty that these safes have and what the point of a lifetime warranty was if they couldn't even come back and fix it a month later when the parts arrived. Both people i talked to were absolutely worthless and did not try to help in anyway. I will never, EVER, buy another cannon safe again. My father has had a stack-on safe for 12 years and has never had a problem with it besides changing batteries. Thanks for nothing cannon.

Do not purchase these safes
Do not purchase these safes. Right off the go they are crap. Keypads don't work most of the time. And forget about customer service and warranty it does not exist. Spend a little more money and get a better safe by a better company.

My safe from Cannon has been a…Do not buy this safe if you need it in an emergency. It will fail you.
My safe from Cannon has been a nightmare. On two occasions in emergencies it’s failed to open. I have put a brand new ten-year batteries in it and it still did not open. Do not buy this safe if you need it in an emergency. It will fail you.

Never buy a Safe made by Cannon
I purchased a American Eagle gun safe made by Cannon approximately 13 years ago with a electronic key pad. What a 1000 lb x $1000.00 mistake that turned into. I should have known not to buy something that has throw away microwave buttons on it. One of my key entry #”s needed to complete the code sequence went dead. Called Cannon technical support to try to work thru the issue. At the end of the day , I found out Cannon doesn’t make a plug and play entry pad to fix the problem without drilling out the safe that is on my part and cost $400.00to $600.00. I’m better off taking a chop saw to this anchor to get my toys out and tossing it in the river where it belongs.

Cannon quality has gone down the tubes
Cannon quality has gone down the tubes. I bought a small safe years ago and it was a quality product. The latest one that I just bought was a 64 gun safe and what a piece of garbage. I had a locksmith come out to change the electronic lock to a mechanical type in the event that the US is attacked with an EMP weapon that would fry all the electronics and leave my safe inaccessible. He removed the inside cover and just laughed. The newer safes have the keypad offset so now it's impossible to install a mechanical dial. I was shocked at how chinsey the internal components are compared to my older Cannon safe. I will never buy another Cannon product. I should have bought a Liberty safe. Good lesson.

Sadly Irresponsible and unacceptable responsiveness
I purchased a large Cannon gun safe approximately 3 years ago. I was very happy with the purchase, as it easily held my many firearms and functioned perfectly until about May of this year. When I attempted to change the combination the safe malfunctioned and I was unable to open it. I contacted customer service for help. I was pleased that I received an immediate response with instructions about what needed to be done to open the safe. I followed the process as instructed. Ultimately, I was able to open the safe, but I was unable to set a new combination. The safe was open, but I was not confident that it would open again if I locked it shut.
Based upon my description of what was happening, the CS representative agreed that the locking mechanism needed to be replaced. I was sent a form to sign acknowledging that it might take 2 to 3 weeks to be contacted by a locksmith due to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. I signed and returned the form and waited about 6 weeks with no response.
When I finally called back I was told that I had never emailed Cannon a video showing me going through their process, apparently to prove that there really was a problem with the safe. Well, that was not requested before, so I was a bit disappointed that the original representative's failure to advise me to send the video set me back a few weeks. The video required me to lock the safe - which I had avoided because I knew that it could not be re-opened. No problem - according to this new representative - because she wanted me to lock it while the door was open. The video was taken while the new representative was on the phone with me so that she could confirm receipt of the video on her end "to avoid any further delay". Of course, the video also confirmed that my safe was now locked with the door wide open. The representative promised that a locksmith would call by the end of the week - no call was received.
So now here I am with a gun safe full of firearms: Door wide-open, unable to close, openly exposed to anyone walking by my house when the garage door is open.
I called back the following Monday and talked to a 3rd representative: I explained all of the above to this representative. I pointed out that not only can the general public see into my safe, my two teenaged daughters and their boyfriends also can. My 12 year-old son can too. And my state has a law that requires firearms be stored and secured so that they are inaccessible to thieves, children or anyone else not eligible to possess firearms.
This representative apologized for the fact that no progress had been made and he promised to "investigate" and get back to me by the end of the day. I have not received a response two days later, which is the reason that I am writing this review.
Cannon's failure to do anything about this is totally irresponsible and unacceptable. One of the reasons I bought this safe was the lifetime warranty that supposedly came with my purchase. What good is the promise of a lifetime warranty if the company standing behind it ignores its customers when the product breaks, leaving a family vulnerable to theft and heavy liability if the weapons it is supposed to protect were to fall into the hands of criminals or an irresponsible individual?! I am shocked by Cannon's absolute failure to address this situation immediately, let alone over a period of several months.
At this point, I am very sorry for my decision to have made this purchase. I hope that Cannon proves me wrong and rectifies this situation, but I am at a point where I feel that I will have to hire a locksmith on my own.

warrenty and poor cusstomer servvice
have a cannon safe the key pad /lock messes up. warranty states zero coat to repair zero cost to replace. Its BS mine would not open after trying all the things that cannon customer service said to do. deemed key pad lock was bad. told me i had to pay for a locksmith to open it $125.00 an hour and was told averge is 2 hrs. will send me a new one but will take 2 to 3 weeks. well the time has passed and no new parts. call them back and weas told order was sent to the wharehouse and did not know when they would ship. asked if it could be checked on and told the customer service has nothing to do with the wharehouse. would not give me the number to the wharehouse. E-Bay new lock kit $85.00 will have it in 4 days. will never buy another item from cannon or stack on.
