In July 2020 I went into the live chat as I needed to have access to an US / an UK phone number which would be able to accept SMS. CallHippo then verified that it's no problem to receive SMS with the phone numbers. I wanted to try the services, as this wasn't possible they offered me a discount when paying for one year. I told them, that I'm only going to use the service for receiving SMS, they again informed me that this won't be a problem. After paying they activated the services and I tried to receive SMS which didn't work. I went back into the live chat and told them that I cannot receive SMS; they told me "Is the sender of the SMS in the same country like your phone number? Because if not, no SMS can be received". They seemingly forgot to tell me about this little detail even though I asked them several times beforehand. I then told them to refund my money as they phone number cannot be used, they refused and ended the live chat; I then got kicked out of the live chat every single time I reentered it. After this I send them several emails, some of them got replied, but after an email exchange of probably 10 emails from each side they stopped responding. My account wasn't longer accessible and I received no refund. Result: I paid one year for services which they didn't offer even though I asked several times before purchasing. On the top of that they blocked my account. I lost a lot of money here, yet their customer support wasn't helpful, the services they told me they would have didn't work and I paid for literally nothing. Eventually I gave up in pursuing a refund and within the next months I forgot all about this company. Till this morning: "Hello, Greetings from Callhippo.com! There was a problem with your latest auto-renewal payment. On 04-Jul-2021 00:03:23 UTC we tried to charge your card ending with **** for $151.20 but were unable to process the payment. This is for your subscription renewal at CallHippo." Wow! First they scammed me of the 1st year, then they blocked my account and now they tried to illegally deduct 151.20 USD$ from my account. Be aware! Even though they had no legal rights to deduct from my card they either tried it. Luckily for me I have my cards locked and will only unlock them when I do transactions by myself to protect me from illegal subscriptions are charges like from CallHippo. - Worst Customer Support Ever! - Account blocking for no reason - Lied during asking if I can use the services for my purpose - Illegally tried to charge me a year later again
