Not funny. nervt.

Not for everyone
Cal.com has a great product if you are either an individual/small team or looking to use the API (with low volume).
I began using cal as part of our agentic scheduling workflow for managing cold email pipeline. The API has a rate limit of 120 requests/minute and once you hit it, instead of giving you a warning, they just turn off your account. And they do not provide any context as to why.
It took 5+ support messages, and DMing their team on LinkedIn/X to get my account re-enabled and getting context into what happened.
We spend about $600/mo with cal and the support we have received does not reflect that.
So to summarize: if you're using it with low volume, it's a great tool. But if you're looking to build with it and use the API with any sort of volume, you will struggle.

Thanks for sharing this, and I’m really sorry about the experience you had.
What happened does not reflect the level of support we aim to provide, and I assure you it's more of an isolated occurrence rather than the benchmark for it.
To add some context, the API rate limit is there to protect platform stability for everyone using Cal.com. We enforce those limits to prevent excessive load from impacting overall performance. That said, we should have done a much better job of making the cause clear and helping you resolve it quickly.
We do return rate limit information in our API responses, including signals when limits are being approached. However... In that amount of high-volume workflows, those warnings can be easy to miss if they are not being actively monitored.
Your feedback is fair, and it highlights two separate issues on our side: the experience around account restriction, and the quality and speed of communication afterward. Neither should have felt this difficult.
We appreciate you using Cal.com, and we also appreciate you calling this out directly.

I'm trying to cancel my free trial
I've updated my comment in light of Milo's.
This morning I spent perhaps 45 minutes trying to cancel my free trial - but it was difficult to find information on how to unsubscribe, or an unsubscribe link. The person on the chat very quickly refunded me after i accidentally clicked to move off the free trial, and he tells me he also cancelled the free trial as well, which is great. However as his messages were very concise it was hard for me to know for sure if he had cancelled the free trial (or just the full subscription) or whether I would be charged next week when the free trial was due to run out. This was clarified eventually. Not Milo's fault - but would be much easier if there was simply an 'unsubscribe from free trial' button to click. I eventually deleted my card details and account to help me feel more certain. I hope that explains things more accurately.

Hey Christina
I am sorry about the misunderstanding here. I checked the ticket and the support DID cancel your free trial even before their first reply. That being said, this review is a bit misleading as it is not factual.
I kindly ask you to provide more context.

I like the overall concept
I like the overall concept! We're anxious to have the recurring working properly as we still have conflicts show on cal.com when there are no conflicts on the main calendar.
I am frustrated with the lack of service this week in particular. The site was down for a bit today, no one is replying to my emails from last week asking for help and the site chat just cycles without populating.
Response from Cal.com, IncSep 5, 2024
Hey Tracy, we had a temporary downtime but everything has been fixed immediately!

The tool is great but I don’t use…
The tool is great but I don’t use because the auto generated emails has cal com branding. People who book a call with me don’t see my avatar in the email. It doesn’t make trust to my target audience.

Works well when it works
Works well when it works, but we had customers run into errors that the Cal team couldn't debug, and didn't reply to us when we asked them to check their logs

Hey Jack, it's Peer, cofounder of Cal.com. Can you send me the ticket number of the support ticket so I can give it a look? I am also happy to contact your customer and apologise on behalf of Cal.com for any issues. We take stability and deliverability extremely serious and I would love to investigate what happened here.
