I was impressed with their knowledge…Customer Service
I was impressed with their knowledge and ability to mentor/train potential new electricians. In the current enviorment we live in, skilled electricians are getting hard to obtain. Their trained/licensed electricians not only mentored the younger employees, but did not hesitate to explain the process and my needs to me.

Total Landscaping Make-Over
Over time, our front and back yards had turned into unsightly brown areas of dead grass and weeds – it was time for a total landscaping make-over.
The first landscaping contractor we contacted was Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscaping where we met Rocco Pent, Assistant Regional Manager and Senior Project Design Specialist/Project Manager. During the initial site visit, which lasted 5 hours, we explained our design ideas, preferences, options and requirements. As we walked around the front and back yards, Rocco took detailed measurements of the prospective layout and then helped us think through in the pros and cons of our initial design and landscaping material choices. Rocco helped us refine our initial concept with the design and materials that worked best for our front and back yards, taking into consideration our existing mature landscaping and the look and feel of the rest of our property so everything would be integrated and cohesive. He came up with creative solutions to solve some of the challenges that would be encountered with our overall design. It became immediately clear to us that Rocco (and Black Diamond) had the understanding, knowledge, skill, and experience in all the critical elements of our landscaping project. At the end of the visit, Rocco entered the key data from his survey into his computer and presented us with a detailed rendering of the project. He explained each element of the design – from demolition to site preparation to product installation – together with pricing. More importantly, Rocco established with us a sincere rapport and high level of trust that clearly indicated he – and Black Diamond – would be partners with us to guarantee a successful project. It’s always great to feel like you've developed a positive, trusting relationship with a company that will be working on your home.
The project (19 July to 07 August 2023) finished on time, and both the process and outcome exceeded our expectation, which we set very high from the outset. The work – from demolition to site preparation to product installation – was completed at the highest level of care and craftsmanship. We were impressed with the high quality of work, particularly the installation of the artificial grass and the pavers. Even before the work was completed, passers-by said how beautiful the front yard looked. Since then, we’ve received many more compliments on our new landscaping. We thank Rocco, Fernando and Black Diamond for an excellent, stress-free experience, and for giving us a functional, impressive, enjoyable front and back yard. We highly recommend Rocco Pent and Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscaping.

Misleading indications of licenses
I went to look at a local contractor who people had complained about. I found a lot of symbols visually indicating the contractor had a verified license, but it took several click throughs to see the contractor's license had expired. The information about the license status changed significantly each time I clicked through to verify. Different months, different years appeared. Different wording. The guy had a 91 rating, too. Boston Ma area.

Hi Rose,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. This is not something we have seen in the past, however if you are experiencing this, it could be a bug. We are unable to replicate this, so if you do have examples, we would love to see them. If you could please email [email protected] we can have a look and diagnose what this may be caused by.

I was offered a free service to locate general contractors with best quotes…
I was offered a free service to recommend four general contractors in my area, as well as the best quotes. He only recommended one contractor, who was not in our area and quoted $200 sq ft.
He stated he could not locate any contractors in our area, which I find strange since this area is flooded with general contractors. He also stated that the quote was average.
This is not true, we have talked to several general contractors in this area who quotes were less than $200 sq ft and recently talked to someone who quoted $160ft.
I feel no effort was put in to find someone since we choice not to buy your premium service.
In the future, it would be better if you let your customers know that you would not try as hard if they are not making a purchase instead of leading them to believe that you would try to help them to get the best possible quotes.
I m very disappointed ☹️

Hello Debra,
We are sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with our services. We found your service request and looked into it to make sure you received the best service possible. It appears that we actually reached out to a total of 17 contractors within proximity of the project and of those 17, two of them initially indicated interest in the job, then it dwindled down to one who was willing to provide a quote. That final quote came in at $200 per square foot, which is actually just below the estimated average mid-range quote for your project type of $207 per square foot. We use national data and a cost estimating tool to figure out estimated average costs, however that information isn't shared with contractors. Contractors will create their own estimates based on their evaluation and costs.
It's great that you've been able to meet with other contractors who've quoted you less, however we always tell property owners to exercise caution with estimates when they are being given far below the averages, especially if they're given without the contractor having developed a full scope of work and understood all the details of what you're looking for. It's incredibly common for a contractor to verbally give a low estimate, then when it comes down to itemizing a bid they almost always come out much higher. Also keep in mind that a bid or estimate that isn't inclusive of all the necessary costs or changes will result in future change orders. If a change order needs to be filed with the contractor, it's the property owner who needs to pay a "Change Order Fee" to the contractor to add new items to the contract.
It's for those reasons that we offer our Premium Service, however if a property owner chooses not to purchase the Premium service that doesn't impact our effort to source and secure a contractor for you. It just means you won't have a construction expert review your bid and contract to ensure you're getting the best price and it's fully inclusive of everything needed. Again, we apologize that our service didn't meet your expectations, but I can assure you that our effort to find you a contractor who would offer a realistic quote was there. We wish you the best of luck with your project.

My wife and I wanted to remodel our bathroom.l…
My wife and I wanted to do a total bathroom remodel at our home in the mountains about about 20 miles outside of Albuquerque. We made repeated calls to several contractors on our own in an effort to get someone to come out and give us a quote, but we weren't having any luck. We then heard about Buildzoom and contacted them. Within two days they had lines up 3 qualified contractors to come over and give us a quote.
Not only did the contractors show up on time as scheduled, but we also got 3 competitive bids which is exactly what we were looking for. Our representative at Buildzoom, Ms. Andersson, also followed up with us several times to make sure we were satisfied with the response we were getting from the contractors that she recommended and had found for us.
She was a very professional, very friendly and extremely helpful. She even called after the project was completed, just to make sure we were happy with the results.
We picked one of the contractors she recommended and our bathroom remodel was completed on time and within our budget. Buildzoom made the project go more smoothly than we ever expected and would Highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable company to help you find a contractor to complete any project, big or small.

Hired a contractor to do stucco job
Hired a contractor to do stucco job. He took my deposit of 1948.00.
Never returned to do the job . I called him several times he never returned my calls until I asked him to return my deposit .I never received any materials and I asked for receipts he changed subject telling me I had to work on his schedule yet he's had my deposit since 05/30/2023. I asked my wife to call him and ask if he was on his way on 06/05/2023 and he told her he wanted to discuss this with me she told him I had asked her to call him said he didn't want to talk with her and started insulting me and my family. When I decided I could not work with this guy so unprofessional, and making excuses to do the job trying to find a way to keep my deposit,he could have had the job done had he not spent all his time on the phone making excuses. I have since sent him a letter giving him the opportunity to return my deposit or proceed with going to court. Plus having to get another contractor to do the job. Has inconvenienced us and cost us additional fees so all could have been avoided..accent services should not be trusted. Do not hire this guy goes by idea man.
We trusted him and it was a big big mistake.
We have never had a problem with any contractors we have hired in past. And he idea man ,John, even had negative remarks for them. A person who takes people's money and tries to find ways to keep it, by coming up with excuses or blaming his incompetence on people who are trying to help him by giving him the job. Being he goes door to door passing out business cards . You need to screen your contractors better.
J will be checking with licenced regulations as he has not provided an address his name or address on his invoice
Not signed it I had to research all his information. No one has heard of him but if he does not return our deposit regardless if I wrote out the check or my wife it belongs to us was to be used for our home. And tired of his excuses.then we will proceed with proper channels.

Hi Sparkling,
We are very sorry to hear about your experience with a contractor you found on BuildZoom. Contractors on buildzoom.com are not employees nor affiliates of BuildZoom. Contractors on our website do not pay us a subscription to be a part of our marketplace, they only pay us a referral fee for jobs that they win. We are not a regulator and remain a neutral party in post-hire disputes.
We partner with over 2000 building departments and contractor boards across the US to maintain records of over 3.8 million contractors. Unfortunately it’s not feasible for us to run background checks on all 3.8 million licensed contractors, especially since they are not employed or affiliated directly with BuildZoom. Think of BuildZoom like Yelp but for local contractors — Yelp maintains a large database of Restaurants, we maintain a large database of contractors and offer services to help source local contractors, and a Premium Service that helps compare and review bids & contracts.
If and when we discover that a contractor is conducting themselves in a manner that’s bad, we do suspend or ban them from our website. We put a block on Accent Services' profile so they will temporarily not get any leads from BuildZoom.
As far as your situation, here are some actions you can take:
File a formal complaint to your State Attorney General
Reach out to your State .gov's Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, where their license is listed and open up a complaint - request for the contractor to be investigated
Simultaneously, ask for their contractor's bond information (if you don't have it already) to file a formal claim against their bond, which would compensate you for misperformance
Review the requirements for your State’s Recovery Fund (if they have one)
If you would like, leave a review on their BuildZoom profile so that others are aware of your experience (we've come to learn that some regulators will visit our site during their own research)
Again, we are very sorry that you encountered this situation and we hope you’re able to figure something out. If you need help researching any of the above options in your state, reach out to us at [email protected].

Need an honest and professional contractor?
Recently my elderly parents had a mainline sewer blockage cause a flood into their home. It was devastating to them. While looking for someone to help us restore their home we were referred to William Ficher of Encore Construction. From our first phone call we were greeted in a cheerful and professional manner. William showed up ready to work when he said he would prepared to work. He and his crew finished the project in a timely and professional manner. He and his crew cleaned up the area and left everything in order. His pricing for the job was reasonable and fair. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing a construction job, whether large or small. William Ficher and Encore are honest and professional.
