Please check out My Case Indiana before you hire Brown Construction! Ihave crossed the ocean ten time and visited 45 states and I have never met a person more despicable that Ian Brown! He doesn’t follow the blueprint as evidenced by my exterior basement steps where there are 8 steps vs 14 which the prints called for. He was paid 1500x4 for a pump truck and then I caught him using bagged concrete and strewing the debris up and down the alley. He has one full time employee and uses temps. The one full time employee is an IMPD officer Herman Edgar Means who is on administrative Leave for Domestic Violence. Please visit My CASE INDIANA Prior to hiring Brown Construction! In addition to that he is currently running from several banks and one bank reports the whereabouts of him and his wife are unknown.Hiring Brown Construction was one of the Worse mistake of my life.MY CASE INDIANA YOU WILL THANK ME. I would strongly encourage Build Zoom to take this Predator off your site!!

A completely broken vetting system…
A completely broken vetting system followed by total corporate abandonment (Block Renovation as the new parent company of BuildZoom).
We paid BuildZoom a $6,250 Premium Tier fee for promised data-driven background screening, elevated vetting, and dedicated oversight to build our new home. Instead, we were matched with a disastrous contractor who left us with a severely defective, incomplete project, forcing us into active court litigation in the 12th Judicial District Court, State of New Mexico.
Per our public court petition and independent engineering assessments, the project suffered from extensive non-compliant structures and substandard dirt work. Specifically, official independent soil testing revealed the site preparation failed standard compaction protocols, achieving only 85% against the required 95% safety standard. This has resulted in $148,246.39 in direct damages to date to repair the defective work. Based on our experience and tracking of this matter, we believe the Phoenix regional office has similarly mismatched other families across New Mexico and Arizona during the same timeframe, leading to widespread financial hardship.
After initiating our lawsuit, we contacted our past BuildZoom representative, who informed us that Block Renovation had acquired BuildZoom earlier this year and that she had transitioned to the new parent company. We provided her with the official petition filed with the court.
To compound this devastation, when we formally escalated this fee dispute to BuildZoom’s new parent company, Block Renovation, we were met with a total wall of silence. We sent a formal contractual demand for a refund via Certified Mail to their corporate headquarters in Brooklyn, NY. We also sent multiple courtesy emails to all known corporate contacts and directly emailed their designated legal contact at their explicit corporate direction. Following no response, we issued a second urgent notice. Both attempts were met with complete silence.
We find their refusal to respond to a documented, serious complaint to be highly unprofessional, dismissive, and entirely inconsistent with the "elevated standard of care" promised by their premium service. These entities are quick to pocket thousands in premium consumer fees, but in our experience, they abandon homeowners and insulate themselves from accountability when their matches cause severe structural and financial ruin.
Based on our ongoing ordeal, we strongly advise avoiding both BuildZoom and Block Renovation.

The recommend unlicensed contractors
I've heard stories about contractors scamming people, so I hired Buildzoom to avoid that. it didn't help. They provided a contract with an unlicensed contractor (it turned out he faked his credentials) and when asked for documentation of the credentials they supposedly had, they ghosted me. I've tried to pursue legal action against Buildzoom but they are hiding behind state lines.
I wish I'd never heard of this company, much less done business with them. I would have been far better off finding my own contractor then relying on their false documentation.

This site is currently violating my…
Buildzoom is currently violating my right to privacy by displaying my business name, home address and private cell phone number publicly on their site without my permission. I went to their site to try to take down the information the fed me some spiel about public records. they also are trying to force me into participation with their business by texting some unsolicited agreement to me after I tried updating my information on their site. I did not enter into an agreement of any type with this company and will not fold to some guerilla style marketing tactic. as well my business information should not include any of my personal information. I have sent a cease-and-desist warning to this company and explore all legal remedies to end my company's presence on their site.

You Don't Get What You Pay For...
I was strongly encouraged(almost forced) by my franchise to utilize Buildzoom to find a GC for my small business project I was starting in 2023. Every time I was on a call with a BuildZoom representative I was invoiced for $1000. Yes, I said $1000, including the "the initial consultation call". I ended spending a little over $5K when I already informed my franchisor and BuildZoom that I have a vetted GC that I have been meeting with for months. BuildZoom told me I could put my GC through the process as well. Which didn't make sense considering I already vetted my GC and the service that was pitched to me is that BZ helps find GCs in my area(Maryland).
After being underhandly pushed into using BZ I ended up with a contractor that clearly was not vetted by them. Because months later I found out the contractor I met through them was a crook. The contractor ran off with over $140K of my money and I know two other business owners that used BZ and found the same contractor. When I spoke with BZ about this I was connected to the "President" of BZ and was told they are not responsible for the actions of the contractor. I asked if I could get my $5K back that I paid for the service that BZ did not deliver and was told, flat out "No". They did send an email stating they were sorry for my unfortunate loss but I have had no recourse for the actions of the contractor nor BZ.
This company uses aggressive sales tactics to lure you in and then quickly moves through your project so they can invoice you. I have never felt more violated or dismissed by a business. If you choose to use BZ to help vet a GC for your project make sure you do your due diligence. Make sure the contractor doesn't already have pending suits/judgements, doesn't have multiple business names, and hasn't filed for bankruptcy multiple times to avoid paying back any stolen money. Even after I made my claim with BZ they said they would take the contractor out of their program only to find the GC company was still sending in bids for more project several months after my claim. There was no real work done on BuildZooms part but I paid the price for their mediocre service. I am still trying to recover my funds from this contractor. Please beware of BuildZooms tactics, practices, and services.
