These guys found 5 contractors to bid my project and most of them were more cost effective than the 2 quotes I already had. Even with their fee, I saved money. I also got a high-quality forever addition with a contractor that I love. This was such a great service.

Wanted to leave my contractor a review on various sites. BuildZoom seems to focus on such reviews for construction projects, so this was a logical choice. BZ had the right amount of checks and balances that assured me their reviews were legit—I'll probably look for local contractor reviews here in the future.

My husband and I decided we wanted to build a house and reached out to buildzoom for help and support. In talking with buildzoom we at first thought it would be a good idea to use them because they said they would help us find land, a builder, and be by our side every step of the process and help guide us. They have been the absolute worst with communication since deciding to work with them! The sales person told us before they could do anything we had to pay a $1875 deposit. We had expressed numerous times we had a builder we wanted to work with that basically does everything for building the house so what would they do? They told use not to contact the builder until we went through them and paid the deposit because they would help us. We have literally done all the work and they took our money. WE ended up finding the land and WE found a builder that could build in our price range and have everything ready for our 60 day close. Every time we've talked to bulidzoom they tell us they will do something and they take days to get back to us. We expressed that we are on a time crunch due to our 60 day close on our land and the type of loan we are using and they don't seem to care. If my husband and I hadn't taken the initiative to talk to the builder we originally tried to discuss with them we would be screwed for our land closing and our loan. After expressing our concerns to them they told us there was nothing they could do to make things right except terminate our contract and keep the $1500 we initially paid because they “looked into it” and found our claims to be false. When I asked to listen to the recordings they refused to share them. Such a SCAM.

Hi Danielle, Our team spent time reviewing your project and meetings with the BuildZoom team. We understand that construction can be overwhelming and stressful at times so we empathize with your concerns. We appreciate your feedback and thoughts on working with BuildZoom. The relationships that BuildZoom has with its property owners and contractors are incredibly important to us, although we must be fair and truthful to you and to BuildZoom when dealing with these requests. We feel that we were always transparent and truthful with you about your project and also recognized that you wanted to change your project scope, which is why we refunded you the initial larger deposit. This is why we need to get our facts straight, which is why we've thoroughly run through our calls and internal work details. We're not trying to be difficult, we're just trying to get this matter resolved appropriately. We hope you understand our stance here. Below were our findings: - We found no evidence of anyone on the BuildZoom team telling you not to work with the contractor that you found prior to coming to BuildZoom. In fact, we found the team incredibly excited and supportive about the services and experience this contractor has under their belt. The contractor was always part of the equation as you had mentioned them to us several times, and we listen to what our clients want - we agreed that they seemed like a great potential option for your new build. We also spoket o the contractor at length to understand more about their business model and services they could provide you. Since they were a contractor found outside of our process, we sourced additional contractors for your project. - Prior to paying the initial down payment, BuildZoom did not have a timeline from you regarding the 60 days. The land you purchased was in between the initial start of the service and the kickoff call. Once we understood your timeline on the kickoff call, we discussed next steps with you and promptly began sourcing contractors. - We had contacted both the contractor you found and the lender to understand more details about services provided and what was needed in your timeline. She clarified with you on a phone call what was needed. - We reviewed the Kickoff Call, where the BuildZoom team went into detail about average timelines we see on these New Home Construction projects to ensure that you had the proper information on what we have seen with thousands of projects over the last few years - When we reviewed messaging and contact cadence, we found that we were responsive and timely to your needs - Some of the things early on our team was able to assist with was: providing guidance on next steps for your lot, contacting your lender to understand what is needed in your loan window, starting to source contractors/design build firms that would fit your budget - We informed vis SMS you that the down payment was non-refundable and this is also outlined in your Premium agreement. In response to your last claim about the recordings, it is very common for businesses to not share recordings, as they are proprietary assets belonging to the business. As a compromise, we did share with you multiple snippets from our recordings in which should have proven to you all of the above. Overall during this communication, you wrote to us in a derogatory fashion, including attempts at extortion to recoup your payment. This decision to not provide a refund was based on facts, in which our internal investigation concluded after this concern was initially raised.

This company represents a contractor who is not reputable. The contractor they represent who is the owner of EG Enterprises out of Staten Island has been using my private home address without permission or authority to do so. I have notified Buildzoom about this contractors illegal practices because they are representing him. My private home address is all over their website and after numerous email’s explaining the situation, they have not done anything about it. If they are representing this one contractor who is scamming, how many more shady businesses are they saying are reputable when they are not? I just wanted my private address taken off their site but no response from them. This contractor rented an apartment from me over three 3 years ago and has used my address illegally since. He has been reported to numerous agencies and I wanted Buildzoom to remove my address that has nothing to do with his business off their site. I do not want an association with this business, especially my home address! I still receive violations for his business to my address as well. I would be careful using this site for any of your projects as they represent dishonest people.

Hi Jeanine, I'm sorry that a contractor is using your address that they used to live at. We have reached out to the business owner and explained that they need to update their profile to their current address. After some research it looks like you have reached out to us multiple times and each time we responded to you that we had made changes to their profile. In the meantime while we wait a responde from the business owner, I have gone in and removed your address from their profile. If this issue continues to persist, I would recommend to reach out to other authorities about this use of their old address, as BuildZoom is not affiliated with the contractor or the licensing board.

Hi Cassidy, We're sorry to hear that you felt this was your experience. Not a very useful tool, can get info needed elsewheres

Hi Ivana, We're sorry to hear this. You give us no detail here and did not respond to our follow up message for you to provide more information on your review we're unsure exactly what you were looking for on BuildZoom.com but the site can be helpful in so many different ways! We offer a basic service for free to source contractors in your area for your project, and we also offer a premium service that takes you through the pre-construction process. This includes architecture bid management, design fesability, lot analysis, bid management, bid comparison, contract review, amongst other offerings. BuildZoom partners with over 2,000 city and county building departments and contractor license boards across the United States to maintain a database of almost 4 million contractors. We use publicly available information provided to us by those contractor boards and local building departments to create contractor profiles. We also search through the internet for other sources of publicly available information (such as Yelp, BBB, and others). This information is updated everyday. On contractor profiles you can find previous permits, past reviews, contact information, and much more to help you decide on the best contractor for the job. Furthermore, we offer a data product where you can pay to have access to property reports. We have the option for a free trial, too. Again, as we're unsure exactly what you mean by your review, the above is only a brief overview of BuildZoom's offerings, which has been helpful to thousands of other people.
