We love how the H200 device improves his left hand function

I purchased my L300 back in November 2025 but I wanted to wait until I'd used it for a while before submitting a meaningful review. After more than six months of fairly heavy usage, I'm happy with the unit so far. The L300 has been easy to use and very effective in improving my ability to walk safely. I'd tested a WalkAide for a couple of months but its behavior was inconsistent. My leg movement failed to trigger the stimulus about one out of every four steps. This was probably due to the way my disability (caused by MS) affects my gait. The Bioness almost always triggers correctly. They told me this is because the Bioness unit uses a gyroscopic sensor to sense 360-degrees of leg movement whereas the WalkAide is linear. I can't speak to the truth of that claim but the Bioness is definitely more consistent for me. The accompanying app is very useful and fairly easy to use although I find the design kind of quirky. The setting for the strength of the stimulus is erratic. There have been times when I needed to turn it up to the highest setting in order for it to be effective. Other times I've turned it all the way down to lessen the pain but it still worked for me. I suspect this is related to inconsistent placement of the cuff. For the most part, it isn't painful at all, not even a nuisance except in those rare cases. I like the fact that it's rechargeable rather than running on a battery. For a short time I had problems recharging it because (I think) some dirt or other contaminant got into the charging port. After a thorough cleaning it seems to be back to normal. This points out what I consider to be a major design flaw. That charging port should have some sort of cover. It always faces down and dirt or sand is bound to get into it. With a $6K price point, a little rubber cap seems like an obvious and inexpensive improvement. The PT person who worked with me during the pre- and post-sales period has been incredibly knowledgeable, responsive, and helpful. I've had plenty of questions and have had some adjustments made. She couldn't have been more helpful. Frankly, that's one of the biggest draws for this device. Compare this with my attempts to try out the Cionic Neural Sleeve. They didn't even return my messages when I was interested in purchasing one. I shudder to think what their responsiveness would have been once they had my money! The L300 doesn't solve everything for me. Walking is still a chore because I have more problems than just foot drop. Also, when I walk a long way, I get vicious shin splints from the shocks and I have to rest. This might lessen over time as these muscles that had experienced some atrophy are put back to work. The part of the Bioness that is a game-changer is the ability to walk barefoot. It's also a big help on uneven surfaces which are a nightmare otherwise. The price is high (too high, IMHO) and it isn't covered by any insurance plans (shame on them!) but if you have the means and foot drop is a big enough problem, the L300 is a big win over an AFO or competing FES devices.
