I worked here for almost 3 yrs
I worked here for almost 3 yrs. No write ups, but lots of "talks" about trivial subjects. At one evaluation, I was told it was NOT my WORK that counted toward a raise, but how I related with customers! Didn't seem very fair to me, since I went above and beyond in my work to improve sales and appearance of the store. On June 24, 2018, I got very, very ill, had to leave work one evening, telling my mgr. on duty. I was still sick the next night, clocked in, 15 mins. later, knew I was going to throw up. NO mgr. available to inform! (No idea where he was and actually had no time to find him). **We had had NO BATHROOM for over 3 weeks, so nowhere to BE sick.** I clocked out, ran to my car and threw up and continued to do so at home. Went to the store the next day, was told by that same mgr. that it was a "no call no show" and he actually gave me a look as if I was a stranger-very cold look; (one girl actually DID that, not coming in 3 days in a row, not calling and she is still working!!!)-- and that I should have "puked on the sidewalk"!!!! Went the next day, told the store mgr. I was ready to talk. He said "I'm not. I'm busy. Make an appointment." This mgr. is very rarely at the store, or there so very, very early one never saw him. Just there long enough to leave written instructions in a book and then on to other stores, apparently. I called HR the next day. I was told I "should have called from my car." (I did not have my phone in my car!) It was the last thing on my mind, being busy throwing up! He also informed me that I was terminated--over the PHONE. I told him "See you in court!). (I was still very ill the next day, but thankfully scheduled off). I was not warned, not written up, no "talk." I knew something had to be up...the last 4-6 mos. I was being treated differently, including being asked if I "want to quit?", not given days off needed, reported untruths from other employees and customers!-- lots more "talks" over trivial things, pretty much avoided or just ignored by most management for anything I needed to discuss. Very weird. I would not recommend working here for very long if at all. They only give grace and special treatment to those who have been there over 10 yrs. This was totally wrong. I should have had a warning "talk," or been written up first, and was NOT. I am still working with an attorney for wrongful termination.
