Do not use if you're in a vulnerable…
Do not use if you're in a vulnerable position. I tried Better Help earlier this year and it's taken me this long to shake off the terrible experience and write a review. It took me 15 years to work up the confidence to try therapy after some trauma in my teens. In my first session with Better Help, my therapist not only victim-blamed me but then tried to flog me (and a reading group I'm part of) her book! So unprofessional. I was already feeling that I didn't want to continue sessions with this particular therapist and made the excuse that because she's in the US and I'm in the UK the timings didn't work for me generally, which was also true. She told me, 'it's ok. I can schedule you an hour earlier because I've got a holiday coming up and I need the extra money.' Never have I been made to feel like a conveniently placed, faceless money tree. Better Help support was great and refunded me the money with minimal fuss. Not before they tried to get me to have more sessions with this appalling excuse for a therapist, but I got my money back so that's something. Ultimately, Better Help caused me distress and did a lot more harm than good. It made me feel like I was on some kind of human conveyor belt. Fortunately I have some wonderful friends who bolstered me in the aftermath, but I fear for those whose trauma is fresher and don't have a strong support network. Steer clear of this horrible site. UPDATE: After replying to my review and stating they'd "request more information so they could follow up with me directly", it's been 3 weeks and I have received no follow up.

We certainly expect much better from the therapists that work in our network, Gemma. I'm saddened to read your feedback, and want to ensure that we take the appropriate steps to investigate this fully. I'll request some more information here through Trustpilot so I can followup with you directly.
