They do not want to help anyone who needs help
They do not want to help anyone who needs help. They just want easy cases. My case is complicated, several, severe mental health issues and I really needed therapy and thought this would be perfect. I actually joined another website to find an lgbtq friendly therapist and it turns out it's betterhelp in disguise (and not quite lgbtq). So they give you a list of random therapists and make it hard for you to pick a match. I didn't like any of the profiles and then requested a specific one that they finally agreed to give me after I insisted. We had one chat session, she seemed fabulous until I mentioned, during the week in a message, that I felt suicidal. It's part of my diagnosis and isn't necessarily a serious threat. She immediately said she could no longer see me as betterhelp doesn't allow it, and that I should seek in person therapy. Oh, what? Why do you think I'm using this website? Do you only want to help people with mild issues? I have been looking for a therapist for years to no avail, and this service seemed perfect. Plus with covid, in person therapy isn't much a thing anymore. She agreed to see me until I found someone and I thought there was still hope. But then she canceled on me twice, and it sent me into a spiral of feeling completely rejected, disposable and desperate. I did get a refund from betterhelp but I would never recommend this service to anyone who actually needs help, and it's pretty scammy to be honest.

Hi there Quinn and thank you for your honest feedback. While I can confirm online therapy may not be the best fit for suicidal diagnosis's, I'm sorry if we were not able to support you in the best ways for you. We always want our members to receive the care most effective for their situation, as this is vital to the success of your therapy journey! We truly wish you the most success going forward!
