BetterHelp is an innovative, convenient, and trustworthy service. Given my previous experiences with traditional "office visit" therapy, my biggest fear trying this service was being ill matched with the counselors and having to reopen deeply painful thoughts/feelings until I found someone I could feel a connection with. I was thoroughly encouraged by the function to "request a new counselor" with no strings attached, and I was even MORE impressed by the questionnaire/prompts used to match you with a therapist. Believe it or not, given all that precaution and mental baggage/fear of being mismatched... I hit a home run on the first assignment! My counselor was delightful, poignant, and eager to help me in the style that suited me best. I really enjoy our sessions! Phone call is the most convenient method of communication for me, so thats how we connect- but there are messages (which she replies within 24 hours with thoughtful responses), Videochat, Text, and other methods of communication available for whats most convenience for you! The Groupinars are awesome too! I signed up for every one I could fit into my weekly schedule. :) In a time when self-reflection is harder to make time for, I love that modern therapy is taking on this level of convenience and adaptability to be available for anyone who needs it! I would highly recommend everyone considering online counseling to try this site out. It is affordable and the counselors really are genuine, take the time to clearly communicate and understand. They will help you if you need some adjusting financially also! I am grateful to have found this site and plan to continue in the future!

I have only been using BetterHelp for a week but I was immediately matched with a therapist that I really believe understands me. This is by far cheaper than going through my insurance and I have more options. I started with a text chat right away and my therapist has been checking up on me daily. My first video session is scheduled and I’m looking forward to more great collaboration. The platform is easy to use and offers additional group sessions on a variety of topics.

I will say this app is definitely for more self motivated types, that don't need urgent care. I was matched with an amazing therapist, and the service is completely user friendly.
