I ask for the counseling sessions to be over the phone not over the computer. It’s a phone call. I live in an area where I don’t have very good service to use the computer so there’s a big delay. I really can’t say anything bad I can’t say anything good Other than I want my money back because none of the services were performance accounts there was light said that I didn’t click a box which I was never made aware of until he told me all I got was a Messages to be on time for the session. I cannot recommend this service because I didn’t get to use it. Please be clear a phone call is a phone call no where did it say in Internet phone calls please be clear.

It seems as though BetterHelp take advantage of recently graduated therapists, who don't earn much per session and so are unwilling to invest a lot of effort into each session or person. Coming from the perspective of someone who has had multiple therapists before, this kind of therapy isn't worth it, even if you are just starting therapy. They are quite manipulative with their marketing tactics (eg saying the sessions cost 45 pounds/week, when in reality they charge you on a monthly basis) and also in their answers to reviews (eg we are sorry that you feel this way). I signed up, after seeing how great their questionnaire was (stupidly) before reading the reviews. I tried to cancel my subscription immediately, I have sent an email regarding a refund which they will probably not respond to and I now feel worse about falling for a scam (again) and my worsened financial crisis. It is easier to take advantage of people who are struggling emotionally or mentally ill (in the case of the customers) and people who are unemployed (in the case of the therapists) and I think the site could be a lot better if they paid their employees better and employed more people for customer service, instead of managing the site as a business. There are many good reviews but you need to check where each person is coming from: Are they new to therapy? Are they new to BetterHelp? How can you make sure that this person is writing a review from experience? EDIT: (with regards to the response below) as you can see they get so many bad reviews that they need a bot to answer them lol. I didn’t say that there’s a problem with the therapists, I actually said it’s a problem with the way that the site is run, as a business. I also deleted my account before I could be assigned a therapist, so that’s a lie.

If I could give 0 stars I would. It took a lot for me to work up the courage to go to therapy and after paying €240 upfront I arranged a video call with my therapist. It was arranged for Monday October 3rd @ 10:30pm IST and at 10:27pm IST I received a message from my therapist saying that a situation had arisen and she was unable to make the call. I appreciate things do happen outside of our control sometimes so I let it slide. Now this evening, Thursday October 6th, I was supposed to have my rescheduled appointment @ 9:45pm IST and she was a no show. I have been online waiting for the call since 9:40pm IST and she did not show up. I stayed on the therapy page as per the instructions until 10:30pm IST which would be the latest time the session would have ended and still nothing. I sent numerous messages including one at 9:46pm IST informing the therapist I was there like the instructions say and nothing. After reporting this to BetterHelp my account was blocked and deleted unable to see any of the messages I tried to send. Luckily I send photos to my friends so I had something. I have reported this incident to PayPal to try and get my money back. Please DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE SCAMMERS!! I am at a vulnerable place in my life and this has made it so much worse

Really bad customer service (rip off), I tried contacting with regards to billing and not one of my emails were replied to. I sent about three... ended up paying for two whole months but did not get any therapy out of it. Tried to get a refund but radio silence. Lost 350 pounds. I am trying to at least get some sessions out of it now.

I looked into BetterHelp as it seems to come out high on many rankings of online therapy sites. When you go the website it very prominently takes you down a questionnaire for individual or couples therapy. This questionnaire is admittedly excellent, but when you get to the end it says they will match a therapist before you even make a conscious effort to go ahead / opt-in. The final page is essentially a payment page and so I just left as it was too expensive for me. However, at this point I started getting emails saying I had been matched and that there were messages waiting for me from my therapist. Then I started getting emails from someone who "was there to help" but was essentially a sales person - hounding me most days with emails under the pretence of being concerned about me and then reducing the price to try to get me to say yes. Then the final email was entitled "Final reminder". Considering some of my issues are to do with financial worries these tactics were really unwelcome. Suffice to say I will look elsewhere in the future. UPDATE following BetterHelp response below: There appears to be a pattern here and they are using the classic gas lighting technique of apologising for “if it made me feel pressured”. It’s either an apology or not an apology, and turning tables / qualifying the apology like this is deceitful. And secondly, I shouldn’t have to unsubscribe; you should have less pressure internal ways of working from the start.

I spent 450 and got a counselor who cancelled two times but didn’t want to do phone I’d say. Then I got another one. The second time i met with her she starts telling me about a friend of hers…then doesn’t acknowledge that I put the info to good use. So I tell her I’m not so happy. I don’t want to hear about her friends. She says I’m hostile. I say I’m telling you what I need and you’re not listening. She says she’s a coach not a therapist and maybe we’re not a good fit. I hang up. Don’t use this place. U don’t know what you’re going to get.

To whom it may concern, just a briefing of my experience. It started out well for a month, although he does cancel without notice or explanation. He gave relevant and helpful advice. However, once we started to get into more in-depth traumatic experiences of mine, I was unfortunately met with skepticism. In reference to one of my most traumatic experiences, he invalidated the event and didn't believe it occurred. I offered and submitted supporting documentation which he did not request. I admit, I may be sensitive about this subject. This deterred me from wanting to continue therapy with this particular individual. My first reaction was frustration due to the skepticism and his invalidation of these very traumatic experiences. I requested him numerous times to stop messaging me, which he ignored and continued messaging me. He then proceeded to send me textless messages that only contained a single emoji. One was literally a kissy face emoji. I'm just hoping others don't have the same experience with this individual.

I went on the app and filled in a few bits, got as far as them wanting payment and decided I wasnt sure if I could afford it (this is not me saying they are overpriced, as I havent compared). What I got then on was numerous emails (4 emails in 5 days) - each one focusing on money and offering more and more discount if I'd just sign up. I appreciate businesses want to follow up on potential business, but I thought a business of this nature would understand there is a personal touch to be had and not numerous emails saying Final Reminder and This Link Expires Tonight! When I got the Final Reminder email I thought 'phew, they'll leave me alone' - only to get an email the following evening telling me I had until midnight to get a great deal. I replied and told them to stop spamming my inbox asking for money and they should consider their audience. The reply was swift, to be fair, but was simply "Thank you for your feedback. I've gone ahead and unsubscribed your account. You will no longer receive email notifications. Hope you have a great day!" No apology for the constant spams, just a generic reply from a company that sees its customers as money. Go find a therapist/service which actually cares for your health as much as its pockets.
