This felt like a scam. My therapist had a very full calendar my first and second sessions were 13 days apart. Then suddenly Better help hits me with a new monthly charge of $320 after having just 2 sessions i stead of the 4 per month that is included in the plan. There is no phone customer service at all. Any issues must be dealt with via email that responds once every 24 hours. Its just awful. They take your money and provide no services.

"It seems there may be some confusion surrounding the subscription... " They have hidden rules that game their own system to the detriment of both patients and therapists. Sort of like Uber and Lyft, but more poorly run. They appear to own all the online therapy services. So it isn't even a duopoly like Uber and Lyft. If you go to Glassdoor you will see their therapists give them lower than average ratings. Any scheduling glitch, they charge the patient but refuse to pay the therapist. They keep it all to themselves. And because they have bought up the competition, you have little alternative but to deal with them. Their software sucks. But they have no incentive to fix it. SUPPLEMENT "The billing agreement for each member is clearly detailed upon the selection of a membership plan, prior to submitting payment information. Additional information can be found on our FAQ page to ensure everything is clear," Uber and Lyft have that as well. And everyone reads them in detail as we all know. So this is another part of the Uber Lyft experience. Including a cut-and-paste response. Here is all you folks need to do. Add the end of every log off ask "is there anything we can do better". At least you will get some good feedback. Oh... but I am talking to some AI robot aren't I? And also I was wondering why all the good reviews. TrustPilot threatens to take down my review unless I disclose my identity to Better help. Given the confidential and trusted nature of their service, I would expect a lot of reviewers just don't want to identify themselves to Betterhelp. It's not like they sell coffee, Add the end of every log off ask "is there anything we can do better".

After trying this service for 4 weeks, I can confidently say, "I can't believe someone would actually pay for this service." Then their customer service might be the worst from any company I've ever encountered because I've paid about 400 dollars just send unanswered emails and write a bad review. I would have rather bought and abused drugs then used this therapy company, and that says a lot because I don't even recreationally drink. I just needed therapy because I just lost a family member, but I ended up with a horrible customer experience from a company that I would never recommend to anyone. They are just people who are taking advantage of people who are vulnerable.

therapists are loose cannons that have no accountability to the platform especially the last one ..i requested she review my log for relationship ending issues ...she did not initially then after 2 session she does review the log and immediately quits me ...this thing of.."im not the right therapist to help you " im worn out with this elusive say nothing answer ...i deserve and REAL answer ..but never going to get one ..ive tried .. repeatedly

Absolutely terrible service. I don't recommend it! Although therapists might be good (never got to a point to talk to one), but customer service is complete disaster. One month waiting for a session, selected the date from therapist schedule and therapist did not showed up. Apparently calendar has automated suggestions without synchronization with therapist calendar. So how can you promote cheaper service than physical sessions? BetterHelp has to take actions and monitor new comers and suggest alternatives if something is not going smooth. What's the point of paying on monthly basis if nothing is happening. Working with clients as with patients, customer service of such company has to be outstanding. It seems BetterHelp does not understand that... No go!!!

So I will start that the therapist was great. My issue was the shady billing, lack of a working phone number (the number listed on my credit card bill was a 3rd party that can only pass along messages to the actual company.) I had filled out info to get a therapist, initially than decided not to, then kept getting offers at lower and lower cost until I clicked on "4 sessions for $260" in the pop up or possibly email though I can't find it, it was not framed in the promo offer I got as an auto-renew subscription plan. I then never got an emailed receipt nor any notices of future charges, bills etc. So our therapist went on 2 weeks vacation and I can only meet one day a week so in the course of 10 weeks we met 3 times 30 min each. I was billed $780 for 90 min total of online therapy. There was minimal contact apart from the scheduled sessions except me trying to schedule. I had no idea I had to do all 4 sessions in a 4 week time frame and literally got nothing from them suggesting there were further charges because of how I scheduled. Because there is no way to speak to actual human beings at this company (ironic for a therapy service to have such terrible communication) I can't fix this except by filing BBB complaints etc and blocking the company from being able to charge to my card. I would use extreme caution it is definitely not cheaper then traditional therapy, we have a PhD down the road who we could have paid the same amount for 7 hrs of in person therapy. Addendum: I cannot see how to reply to their reply, but in no way shape or form are you “always available”. You have to wait 24 hrs to get an email from contactatregain email. So when I started this complaint 48 hrs ago I got a reply 24 hrs later that didn’t seem to understand the complaint and offered to extend my session, my email to clarify I want no part of this company and refund the 2 unauthorized charges remains unanswered. So waiting 24 hrs between clarifications and having no working phone number does not equal “always available”, if you are always available please put your working actual business owned not 3rd party answering service phone number in your reply. Since you seem to loathe direct human contact minimally put your link to live chat with an actual better help agent in real time. If you cannot do either of those very basic simple good business practices please do not claim to be “always available.”

I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! I would like to start with the fact I'm not experienced with mental therapy. I found this service online and seemed like a accessible way to seek help from professionals. After quick and easy automated assessment test I received the assigned therapist. I spent one month with first therapist and and after many red flags of her giving me advices on how I should do things and commenting in my traumas in harmful way (I believe if I was very unstable of suicidal some of the comments could end up in tragedy). I decided to change therapist within BetterHelp.com, After reading extensively about many therapist available and their specialisation I found only one that holds the medical degree of DR. This is a good place to mention the Subscription model that this service offers. For 340 CAD a month you can hold max 4 private therapy sessions with therapist (if you are interested some group sessions are also available). What they don't mention is that you can only book one session at the time and if your therapist like in my case is having many patients you end up with having 2 or less private sessions e month which makes this extremally expensive for the value received. My second Therapist Therapist had busy schedule so I had to wait 2 weeks to meet with her, she was late for our first session 15 min which 1/3 of allowed time (average session time 30-45 min). Second session (due to not being able to book sessions in advance happened another 2 weeks after) Therapist didn't show up at all. That month I ended up paying full monthly subscription price 340 CAD for around 20 min of therapy. THIS IS OUTRAGOUS. Please use my experience as a warning and seek professional help in better places. Don' waste your time, money, and all the emotional effort that it takes to open up about your problems.

Apparently almost all of the therapists on this app are religious Republicans so only 1 out of their 20 options made it past the initial introduction. Then he stopped responding after our 2nd meeting. The constant rejection I've received while using this app has made my mental health even worse. No help in sight. Just hoping for a refund at this point.
