Disappointed in payment options and accessbility
Very disappointed that they do NOT accept insurance where I would typically pay a copay of $50 per session. instead you pay per month at anywhere from$60-$90 a week. I can’t afford that even with a job and insurance. Very very disappointed.

My therapist was great and if she was…
My therapist was great and if she was on another platform I would continue to see her. I have addresses them charging my card twice for large amounts with no prior notification. I have worked in mental health and I can say any agency I have worked with notified the patients either before or day of service. This is poor practice in my opinion. Also, there is not a number you can talk to someone about instead there is only email.

I have asked for their nasty ads to…
I have asked for their nasty ads to stop appearing several times on all my social media platforms and now they seem to appear more often. I don't care who is at fault but the review needs to be made. I used to consider therapy, but not anymore :) Thanks to "BetterHelp" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Sorry I was just really hungry when I wrote this

I'd give them 0 stars if I could
I'd give them 0 stars if I could. My therapist only badgered me for 15 minutes about how I need to get a better internet service. I could hear her just fine but that wasn't good enough for her. She just kept going on and on about this. I feel like she just didn't want help me. They took my money and they can't seem to provide me with the service they promise. That's a scam.

This is a scam
This is a scam, they bill you even if you’re not using the service. They don’t notify by email or text or send you a receipt unless you ask so you don’t realize what you’re being charged until you see your credit card bill. Not ethical and takes advantage of people.

Took 400 euro without permission and now ghosting. Avoid!
I paid for 1 month at 200 euro and Better help took two further months from my PayPal and current account without permission. It wasn't made clear that this was a recurring charge. I am now €600 down and they are not responding. I have put in an official complaint to PayPal and the companies regulator ombudsman. The therapist was lovely but not especially helpful. 40 minute sessions are really too short to achieve much. Avoid!

Non transparent pricing model and not great matching
When I signed up for this I did it under the impression that I was booking a block of sessions. I paid £180 and we were off. I got matched to someone who was lovely, but not right for me. I switched therapist for the same reason. I was then given a 3rd therapist... I gave up. They were just not good at matching using the information I had given them. I wanted a therapist/coach to pull me out and move me forward. Instead I got an addiction specialist (not relevant), and some people who had very little experience. This has taken a month of time, and in that time Betterhelp wanted to charge me £45 a month later, this is after paying £180 for a block of sessions and only receiving one session. If you intend to charge a £180 joiners fee and then monthly at £45 then I suggest you advertise this. Otherwise you are miss selling. I have written to get a refund. Hugely disappointed and frustrated.

Better help is a scam
Better help is literally ONLY therapy services. If you think you’ll want a formal diagnosis or any type of medication or further support beyond talking to someone, seek help elsewhere. This service is quite expensive for the lack of care they provide as a service. Over $300/month for one session a week is predatory. But literally anyone can get financial assistance! (40% discount!) they don’t ask for any proof of income, maybe like 10 ish questions to fill out, get that discount if you haven’t already and don’t have insurance!! If you have insurance I would strongly suggest waiting to get into an office near you. The only reason I even signed up is because I didn’t have insurance and this service was available to those without. I will not recommend this service to anyone.

Hi Sarah, This is correct -- we are an online therapy service that offers professional services to members through licensed therapists. We note on our site that formal diagnoses cannot be provided through our platform, which means we cannot offer prescriptions or medication management. Financial aid is available to those who might struggle to afford a membership, and is on an application basis. We intentionally make this application simple -- we feel that asking for help can be difficult enough as it is!
