I wish I had filtered on UK reviews on TrustPilot before I signed up and got charged £240! I would not have done this. This service is as the other reviews say not suitable for UK clients I signed up and am yet to be matched with a therapist. They state it’s between 24 - 48 hours we’ve long surpassed that. The Customer Success team is based in the US so replies to queries takes longer & are inadequate. Shocked that a service to support mental health has such poor customer service. Avoid at all costs.

Tried it, after being force fed ads for it on YouTube. Filled out the questionnaires etc. Then, once it's done all of that, and asked about you, and you've explained, THEN it tells you it's 45 quid a month. I'm sorry, what an awful tactic to ply for people who are seeking help. Tell them the cost, upfront, and be honest. I'll be making a note to inform everyone on my platforms to avoid, really not acceptable.

This review is not related to this service, but to the promotion of this service. I'm sick of seeing your ads on all of my "free" content. I don't appreciate the way you are profiteering on my time and mental health and don't trust this company due to this, it reminds me of Blue Apron. Today I have seen the same ad from multiple creators across platforms. In thanks for this you get resounding no an 0 stars from me. I'm sick of it and I don't trust you.

Simple answer - do not use Better Help. overlay complex to try and get to talk to someone. They seem more interested in their own access security than actually helping you

Edit: thank you but each time I write you do an investigation and offer me 2 free sessions which is nice but does not solve the problem. I've requested phone support but you don't have that available. Worst therapists ever! These nitwits think they know everything after a couple of questions and then start handing out advice like they know it all. Jumping to conclusions and getting fussy with you and argumentative when you explain you need to process or need a slightly different approach. They miss the subtle nuance of personal growth and I'm completely baffled! No therapy I've ever done is like this and I attribute it to the platform which is just like Uber drivers. No quality control. You could get more caring advice from Facebook strangers with less hubris. I swear I went through about 6 or 7 of them over the last two years and they just want to fill their quotas. Don't waste your time or money. It will save you a lot of heartache and confusion and go see a real therapist that cares. It will actually save you money. I need therapy for my therapy. I could not understand why I was having such rude and uncaring support from them. I found out they only get paid $30hr and have to reach quotas to make incrementally little more an hour. BetterHelp keeps the rest and you can't call and talk to anyone about it if you're having a bad experience. Typically in real therapy you have someone keep digging & asking you thought provoking questions till you & them are both very clear on the deeper issues. You should be learning what your goals, interests, values & emotional blockages are but I wasn't getting any of that here. Just mediocre advice based on jumping to one wrong conclusion after another! Don't like it or can't move forward in the direction they think you should move in, they don't care. Times up. Each session starts over much like they never spoke to you before. You might get a slight acknowledgment of previous sessions but mostly it's just them taking calls & asking what would you like to work on today & the bestowing you with their God like take it or leave it advice. If you read the way Better Help pitches to therapists it's to get them to take as many people as possible to make up for their inability to fill up their practices on their own. Like using an Uber platform for your mental health it just doesn't always work out the way you would like it because it's fast pace method of cranking them out just to make money. If you read any book on your issues or go to any 12 step program for dysfunctional families you will get TONS more direction, empathy, personal growth and better warmer, actual caring advice from people who understand. You will learn from others real experience what you are missing out on and can grow from. I believe at better help they can give advice but usually they forget that's easier said than done and you have to find out what your needs are and based on that what is the best decision for you. Growth takes time and someone who cares enough to get to know you personally and that doesn't try forcing you to meet some textbook definition is real therapy and not cheating you like these people are. It's really sad and pathetic what Better Help has done to therapy in some ways. I like the platform, I love the ability to write your therapist at any time but most therapists don't care to utilize this feature. I don't like to bother people unless it's serious but even from my best therapist there I got memes and lame replies when I had made the leap to pour my heart out. It's just not possible I suppose for them to be on call in an email 24/7 with every client and I suppose with having to reach so many client quotas to make decent money it can really burn them out to have to do that. I don't think I could handle all that honestly either but it's very misleading to think you can get actual therapy from them at that rate. My heart goes out to them but I'm not a fan of being misunderstood numerous times from someone I pay good money to learn about me when they think they can just solve all my problems for me and then get defensive when I need actual therapy. I imagine a lot of people who try the platform are happy to have someone just to email anytime and not make them dig deeper just to get quick advice without really much introspection but if you come from real therapy you understand this is not worth it and can backfire very easily in you personal life.

My experience with BetterHelp has been disappointing due to unmet expectations and unexpected charges. When I initially signed up, I had the assumption that I wouldn't be charged if I didn't use their services. Unfortunately, this crucial piece of information was not adequately communicated during the sign-up process. When unforeseen circumstances involving my father's health prevented me from utilizing the service, I was surprised to find a charge of $1080 on my account. The lack of clarity on their billing practices and the expectation of being charged even when the service was not used has left me frustrated and dissatisfied. It's crucial for companies to clearly communicate their policies, especially when it comes to charges for unused services. I hope this review serves as a reminder for BetterHelp to enhance their transparency and for potential users to be cautious about potential hidden fees. I paid them a lot of money for nothing.

It took a lot for me to finally decide to get help but trying Better Help was the biggest mistake. You really couldn't make it up. The first therapist I was matched to ghosted me, and no, it's not a joke. She didn't turn up to our first session. I sat and waited at home in silence waiting to connect online and after an hour I obviously gave up. If I'd not turned up I'd have been charged! So back and forth with emails. They 'extended my membership' for a week which really means nothing. I'd lost confidence but thought it was just a blip. So I get another therapist. I was told to select a day and time, which I did, I book it, and almost immediately it was cancelled...with the message on the app from the therapist who didn't address me personally (this being in my own personal message box in which you are meant to talk to your therapist) saying "I can't take the case because of the difference in language". She addressed me as a 'case'. No apology, no explanation. What is most concerning is that I live in the UK, the therapist lived and practiced in the UK so where was the language barrier? I contacted the team again to find out what this NEW problem was. I'm assuming they contacted her because the next morning I got another message saying "please request another processor from the program". So we're 'CASES' that need to be 'PROCESSED'? I've emailed back and forth and had lots of "we understand"s but I still don't know why I was ghosted then dumped. It might make a funny story one day, when I've actually had some therapy and I'm in a better place. So I never actually talked to a therapist at all. And really, I've no idea how good the therapists are but if this is the typical standard, I wouldn't be holding out hope or trusting them to choose therapists with professional standards. Yes, the typical response will be "we care about out members and only use therapists we trust bla bla bla..." They care about signing you up, they don't care about the huge mental setback that an experience like this will have on you. It has had a seriously negative affect on my mental health but I'm not going to let it beat me. Shame, this could have been life-changing for me and brought hope to others who couldn't face the same job of finding a therapist. I really hope others avoid this company because if you're struggling at all, an experience like this could make you completely unravel.

They charged me for two months for $95 a week after the counselor gave me wrong directions on how to cancel. STAY AWAY from ANY SUBSCRIPTION Service. THEY are scammers!!!!! I warned YOU
