I went online to find psychotherapist and found BetterHelp's website. I filled in and submitted information about myself and got an immediate email back urging me to sign up as soon as possible as counsellors were is short supply and sessions were limited. I was not expecting such a hard-sell approach and have decided not to follow up. I did read the reviews on their site. They were all so glowing. Not a single bad experience. Hard to believe.

I signed up, Sent then the full month for fees upfront. I got matched with a therapist. She seemed just as confused about my situation, and did not offer anything in the way of advice except, "write a letter". Unfortunately in this particular situation, that wasn't really going to help much. I tried to schedule a second session, and it became clear that our schedules were not compatible, so she suggested i find someone else. I did. The new person showed evening appointments until I officially changed to her, at which point the evening availability disappeared Then she messaged and said she couldn't talk to me past 5pm. So I went to look for ANOTHER therapist (PS this part of the process is not pleasant for me) and the app just said they'd match me instead of me being able to look again for someone that fit my needs. Its been 36 hours and the app has not rematched me. I'm hurting very badly mentally, and this process has worsened my mental state, made me feel unheard and two therapists have rejected me in a vulnerable state. I would not recommend this "service" at all. I feel exceptionally worse, when I was trying to step outside my comfort zone and find a trusted person to speak with about an important problem in my life. I would like my money back but despite the fact that I've reached out several times, I have yet to receive a response and I still have no therapist (all while they said I could contiune to use the app after I elected to not renew the membership next month.

Better help reminds me of a "1-900" number in the 1990s. My therapist was a sweet lady, but talking on the phone didnt help as much as going to see a real live therapist or a psych. I cancelled my membership in march and it is now august, they have continued to charge me for my sessions every month. They claim they havnt charged me and refunded me. My experience with betterhelp made my mental condition WORSE.

I did there intro questionnaire to see where it leads, It was pretty long and at the end it asks me to sign up to proceed. If they have horrible practices like this why would you trust there therapy.

Better Help's marketing campaign is so AGGRESSIVE, always watch out for what is being overly marketed, they prey on the young and vulnerable, so openly a business, therapy is a big industry now and the commodification of mental health is gross to see. A channel 4 documentary 'I don't trust my therapist untold' uncovers personal negative experiences with Better Help, so many of their therapists aren't vetted, and young people might not know that they can shop around for a therapist, and that they don't have to accept the first one that comes along, no matter how 'perfectly matched' they might have been. In this economy, robbing young people of hard earned cash for a shoddy and potentially damaging 50 minute session is despicable. Therapy needs to be a safe and inclusive place, it should only be a mirror to help you uncover yourself, autonomy and power should always lie with you, no one knows or understands you like you. The BACP directory in the UK is an alternative vetted source for finding a therapist, the CPPD also offer low cost counsellers in training.

I am extremely disappointed with BetterHelp. I signed up agreeing to pay £34 for a session that I never even attended, and without any notice or invoice, they charged me an additional £144. This is outright theft. Not only did this unauthorized charge severely impact my already strained financial situation, but it also worsened my mental health—the very thing I was seeking help for. This is unacceptable and shows a complete lack of integrity in their billing practices. I would strongly advise anyone considering BetterHelp to think twice. My experience has been nothing but stress and frustration.

Assigned an unprofessional 'therapist' who was actually just a counsellor masquerading as a LICENSED psychotherapist, as with all of the alternatives. They are unqualified to actually support people with mental health issues. The advice given was ridiculous and such incompetence in a clinical setting is dangerous to people in crisis. Betterhelp you need to review your staff to ensure ethical standards are outlined as a mandatory feature of all first sessions, as in actual therapy. You also need to clarify that in the UK you are only offering people access to Counsellors and not to Licensed (psycho)therapists as this is otherwise a gross misrepresentation. I complained and you offered me a refund but not before I divulged personal information to someone who was unworthy of receiving it!

They funnel teens to teencounseling.com and we tried 3 times to get her in but twice there were no shows and once the site bugged out and the video and audio did not work. Would not recommend.
