Better help can be quite convenient, and does have few disadvantages to traditional counselling, but has many more advantages to consider, and most are fairly obvious. The counselors do seem to be vetted carefully and meticulously, so I trust that they are qualified and caring professionals doing their utmost best, within reason.

BetterHelp is the way to go compared to other online/mobile counseling/therapy options 🙂❤️💁🏽♂️
When it comes to online and/or mobile counseling/therapy; in my personal opinion, BetterHelp is the way to go! Especially when being compared to other similar services such as Talkspace or Sanvello. I’m not 100% sure that any of the other similar platforms offer a similar service, however; BetterHelp (when I have required it to be) has a more than generous “financial aid” software for those who are unable to afford traditional therapy and/or BetterHelp’s traditional prices. Today I am working a full-time job (remote and at home for the time being because of Coronavirus) that pays well over my minimum salary requirement, however; when I was down, out, unemployed, on top of dealing with my mental health issues at the time (anxiety, depression, and on/off suicidal thoughts), the financial aid was a LIFESAVER for me! As far as counselors go, they mainly let you choose your counselor based upon your personal preference. The only advice that I would give in regard to choosing a counselor via BetterHelp or any other behavioral health-related platform (I type this giving that it is a personal preference of mine to follow after studying and eventually obtaining my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology), you would be making a safer bet on WORKING SOLUTION if you found a counselor who not only specialized in what you are currently going through but ALSO has at least a Doctorate in Psychology (or, a PsyD). And please, don’t roll your eyes at this advice as if I am just jumping to conclusions at a counselor with a PsyD being an automatic better option. I was assigned a clinic in my hometown who unfortunately for me did not have any counselors in the facility who have obtained a PsyD. I went through THREE of their counselors before eventually giving up and deciding to resubscribe to BetterHelp (and yes, you read that correctly - I decided to go back to BetterHelp due to BetterHelp being able to provide me with a more successful experience than my assigned clinic near my current physical address has been able to! LOL. Crazy, right?!) If she at all meets your personal requirements, one BetterHelp counselor that I have worked with in the past who I would highly recommend if she is at all available at an appropriate time for you is Dr. Shana Helmholdt (who does, in fact; meet my personal requirement in a counselor of having obtained a Doctorate in Psychology/PsyD) I truly and genuinely hope that this review I’ll possibly be seen and deemed as helpful to at least somebody out there, especially anybody who may be reading this and is struggling with some sort of mental health issue and doesn’t know what to do. I’m going to leave this review off with a final note to those individuals by saying that there is NOTHING to be ashamed of. Even if you have a problem that can’t necessarily be “cured”, treatment is a completely common thing to seek and, in fact; in some cases may be necessary to pursue. Thanks to seeking treatment from a Psychiatrist (NOT Psychologist) and being put on prescription medication; my anxiety, depression, and on/off suicidal thoughts are now completely manageable (something that I never thought would truly be possible) so much so that I haven’t had thoughts of suicide in MONTHS. Trust me when I say that whether you are curious about seeking treatment, feel like you need to seek treatment, or are encouraged to seek treatment by some other(s); there is NOTHING to be ashamed of in asking for or seeking help in such away. You would be making a wise choice for not only your mental but psychical and overall wellbeing and in the end, a simple Psychological Evaluation can simply tell you what may or may not be genuinely wrong with you and assist you in knowing how to make yourself feel better in whatever area necessary. So last but not least, as Nike’s slogan says - JUST DO IT! LOL. And finally, the reason I gave 4 stars is that, well. No app (or anybody/anything) is perfect after all, LMAOOOOO. 💯

Quality Professional Help
I have been using Betterhelp for 3 months. This is not my first experience with counseling, so I had some expectations and hesitations. When I didn't click with my first counselor after 2 sessions, I chose a different one. The switch was so much more convenient than it would have been with traditional counselors. I live in a rural area that has limited resources. The BetterHelp counselors come from diverse backgrounds and ages. There is a much bigger choice than I have locally. My new counselor is a great match. She has been very helpful during a stressful period. With Covid 19, our on-line weekly meetings are safe and convenient. I've been very pleased.

therapy takes some time, but has been helpful!
I was lucky and got matched to a great fit for my therapist. Right away I could tell she was figuring out how to best communicate with me, and understand my personality, which I appreciate. However at first I did feel like a lot of what said was like, "oh that sucks. I understand." so I was a little annoyed at first, because it didn't feel like it was helping right away. But therapy is one of those things you have to stick with for a while to see improvement.
I think BetterHelp should first let clients know that therapy takes a little time, trust, and vulnerability to work, so clients can expect a realistic experience.

Betterhelp is definitely the most…
Betterhelp is definitely the most affordable therapy I have ever had. I enjoyed my therapist and appreciated the consistency of the sessions. My only complaint was often my calls would drop and I could not hear my therapist very well, so they have some working out to do with technicalities, but ultimately, a great and convenient service.

Has been helpful for me
The counselor with whom I was matched upon joining has been kind, compassionate, and an excellent listener. She has provided me with feedback which is helping me to better understand and cope with issues that have been struggles for me. She is very supportive, and checks in with me throughout the week via the messaging feature. For me, this experience has thus far been beneficial and positive.

Betterhelp has been a great resource
Betterhelp has been a great resource for me. I appreciate the fact that they take into account your financial situation and offer a variety of different payment options to choose from. I do think that a lot of the success with the platform relies on finding the right counselor for you, and that counselor having the time to take you on, because I have used the sister platform ReGain without as much success. However, their matching system makes it quite easy to find the right counselor, and switch counselors if you prefer to.
