Absolutely Worth It but You May Need a Few Tries to Find the Best Fit
I recently saw some nightmare stories about Better Help on TikTok and was shocked. My experience has only been good. I was unhappy with my first therapist, but Better Help supported me in quickly changing to one who worked for me. I stayed with that therapist for months and was super happy with her. She's one of the best I've seen in all the years I've been going to therapy. Whenever I had to miss a week, Better Help's customer service team was responsive and helpful in finding a solution or extending my subscription so that I wasn't paying for a week that I wasn't using. I think the people who have had bad experiences must not have been proactive in contacting Better Help or in changing their therapists, or maybe the service has just gotten better. It's a much more affordable and time-efficient alternative to in-person therapy where I'm living, I like the flexibility of being able to have video calls and send text messages, and I appreciate being able to explore different therapists if I'm not happy with the one I've been assigned. Just remember that this is your own health journey and you need to find a therapist who's the right fit. If after one or two sessions you're not feeling it, just change your therapist. I got lucky and found mine on the second try; I've heard of others who took three or four tries. One thing I wish I'd made more use of is the group therapy (you get one group session a week covered alongside your one-to-one sessions). I attended a few different group sessions and found them really useful. All in all, this is a lifesaver service. I can only recommend it.
