I finally found a great therapist through this app but it took a long time. My first ever time using this app was a terrible experience. My so called therapist at that time kept cancelling on every single session. I got all my money back from that time and reported her. My second attempt was better but not great. She was kind but at the end of the second session, she had to step away. She told me she would find me someone else but she never did. I finally found my third and final therapist and she is the one I still see today. She has been amazing and I couldn’t be happier. Her name is Jenny Ortega. So that’s why I gave them 3 stars. I think the biggest thing that this company needs to do better with is vetting these therapists. Idk how they currently vet but there’s definitely a disconnect somewhere.

High variability in therapist quality. Betterhelp matches you to a therapist based on the information you provide but the algorithm used is questionable and the matching of clients to therapists is more likely influenced by therapist variability. The subscription is a fixed fee, and whilst this may offer cost effectiveness for those who wish to receive therapy weekly and have regular access to their therapist via instant messaging, it is actually a needless expense for those who wish for less frequent appointments. In these instances individuals are better off seeking other therapy options which provide a pay as you go for individual appointments.

Helpful but also not helpful. The reason it’s not helpful is because I wanted to book an appointment with a new counsellor 2 weeks ago and I now have to wait till 12 March 2025 because it was the only appointment I could get. We pay monthly/weekly for this service so we should be able to get an appointment at least once a month.

Only thing I don’t agree with is once you are fine basically trying to contact you counselor for help with legal proceedings is pretty much a hassle platform needs to to become better at help clients with other matters at hand

I like the opportunity for counseling. They have some great counselors. I dislike their policy on payments. I paid two months worth of sessions but didn't use them due to a variety of reasons. I think If they take your money they should give you what was paid for. If I didn't cancel, they had no qualms with continuing to take monthly payments even though they can see i didn't see my therapist since the beginning of December. I didn't want to stop seeing my therapist, but I really had no choice. Betterhelp is in business to help people. I've been in a depressed state, I wasn't thinking clearly. And when I needed them, I got a poor response.

It's fine for what it is I suppose. I honestly don't like that there's not an option to have appts scheduled bi weekly and to be charged according to that instead of weekly regardless of whether I attend sessions each week or not. I'm not into group therapy so that's a wasted option for me for the weekly price. I don't have the option to pause membership for the bi weeks either so I'm still iffy on whether I'll try to continue but I'm giving myself a month to see if it's worth it. I will say I was matched with a therapist that meets my needs and in two sessions has been extraordinarily helpful in guiding me back to a place where I feel like I can control my mental health again. Overall would I recommend this platform? I'm undecided.

While I really like my therapist. Jackie Tasker. And I’m glad that I was matched with her, also that if we didn’t click that I could change easily enough. I’m disappointed with the better health system itself. The fact that you cannot talk with a human When you need information. Getting through the system online is not user-friendly. Not all of us are tech, friendly and in our 20s. I would like a more user-friendly interface. The only thing they do correctly and faithfully is deposit their money every month.

I appreciated meeting my amazing therapist. Also enjoyed the classes. I don't like how BH harvests and sells data, which kept me from utilizing all aspects of the platform, like worksheets, Journaling, and typing a lot of personal information in the chat (all information that can be used to sell to their affiliate companies). Perhaps that's how they keep their prices down? Some aspects of this service seem dishonest to me. Also, the site sometimes can be slow and doesn't always work.
