I found that better help has provided a good variety with respect to the number of therapist and advice that they offer.

Well organized network!!
The therapist I was assigned turned out to be a great fit for me. He's professional and empathetic but also challenges me to find a path to healing. I've been with other therapist before and am happy to say the BetterHelp system is well put together.

Experience has been great
Experience has been great. The platform is a really innovative idea. UX/Interface is simple and intuitive. It breaks down a lot of the real and perceived boundaries (I think) myself/other people have experienced in seeking therapy. It would be great if y'all were able to become credentialed by more insurance companies(I'm sure that is not the first time you've heard that).
I think that from a qualitative perspective - what you guys are trying to do for Mental Health overall is awesome. More accessible, more talked about and common, less stigma, etc.. Thanks for doing what you do. 4/5

This is a great service
This is a great service. Only problem is when there is a hitch with payment, and repeatedly needing to request the 'your poor' discount as forever miss the date, but don't find out until session time is due. Have to remember to take into account the different business hours. The therapist I speak with is Mary, and she has been more of a support than she knows. Bit sad, bit like paying for a friend who won't throw more💩 at the fan when you are at your lowest.

I am so frustrated
EDIT: Before you read my ranty post, here is the update. I'm leaving the review instead of deleting it because I'm still just mad about the experience; that customer service guy was the worst. But the admin here who responded to me actually took over the email convo I was having with J, explained what he had not, which is that NY allows residents to work with therapists from out of state so I was seeing out of state therapists in my options list, and that the "unavailable" therapists actually just don't take international clients, though some actually were unavailable (in which case according to J they should not have been listed on the website?). She proactively reached out to the ones who were available though I'd decided to keep my DC therapist and she did offer me a free week to make up for the lost one. And this morning I did in fact have my first session with that therapist and she was totally wonderful so I'm updating my rating from 2 to 4... not 5 because the process of picking your own therapist is nowhere near as user friendly as it could be, and I'm still mad about that week of nonsense. But 15/10 customer service from Jasmine and I love my new therapist.
Original review:
I am so frustrated. I just signed up a week ago to this, desperately in need of therapy and really looking forward to starting. I did not like the first therapist I got matched with - I didn't do a session with her but weird vibe via text, no reviews, not enough experience, and I decided I wanted someone in NY because while I currently live outside the country, I'm moving back to NY next year and your therapist needs to be licensed in your state of residence unless I'm very mistaken.
So i said let me change therapists. Wasn't sure how to do it because I wanted to choose my own, not let the algorithm do it. I emailed customer service asking how to do it. I had to wait a couple days until after the weekend but someone responded explaining it, so I went through the change therapist form and got a list of people from all around the country even though I'd changed my location and phone number to NY to try to filter. None of them appealed to me and none were in the right state but you can't repopulate this list. That's it. So I looked through the website's NY directory and sent the customer service guy (we'll call him J) a link of someone I liked. He wrote back the next day (always 24h between responses) saying she was not available and telling me to find someone in the directory. Unsure where he thought I got that link from.
So I went back to the NY section of the directory and found EIGHT (8) names and sent those, thinking surely one of them would be available. J writes back 24h later saying none of those people are available and none are licensed in NY and that I should go to the NY section of the directory and send him 3-4 names. Please note that it says in the first line of almost every one of those bios that they're licensed in NY.
At this point I'm ready to lose it. So aside from the fact that no one on the site seems to be available, either J doesn't know what he's doing, or there are 8 people listed as licensed in the wrong state in the BH database, or all 8 of those people moved states and never updated their bios (unlikely).
At that point I asked for a refund for this past week (yet to receive an answer) because basically 100% of my experience over the last 6 days has been a weird text message exchange with the first therapist followed by several days of this infuriating experience with J. It's so bad as someone already having problems with depression, anxiety etc to get jerked around like this over multiple days. The process for choosing your own therapist is WAY too onerous. Leaving aside the whole thing about J being confused (or maybe he wasn't confused and the database was wrong) there should be a lot more flexibility in choosing our own person by ourselves, non-algorithmically, within your system without having to go through CS with 24h response times and back and forth about availability. Seeking mental healthcare isn't a casual thing.
I did pick a therapist who is in DC from that list of people from all over the place just out of desperation but i was this close to just canceling my subscription. I will not get to speak to her until Thursday which means I'll have spent over a week in the above-described process without any mental health assistance (if anything an active detriment to my mental health). Gets bumped to 2 stars from 1 as a rating of my current experience because I've attended two groupinars and enjoyed them.

Hello Catherine and thank you for bringing this to our attention! We want to make sure that we get our members matched with a therapist who makes the most sense for them! I'm sorry if this hasn't been your experience thus far and I am very interested in working together to get you matched with a New York therapist who fits your needs.
I am going to request more information, via TrustPilot, so that I can reach out to assist with a therapist match that will allow you to continue more comfortably.

Excellent service for therapy from home
Betterhelp was a godsend during the pandemic and now I can't imagine not doing therapy from the comfort of home. No travel time, you can feel safe and cosy, and really easy to fit around other commitments. I love how you can match with a therapist based on your needs, who could be from anywhere in the world, and if it doesn't feel like the right match you can change them at the press of a button without having to discuss anything with them.
My one quibble is the pricing - Betterhelp offer up to 40% discount if you need it, but it takes multiple back and forth emails, and if you renew your plan you have to have the back and forth all over again to get the discount they already gave you, which is ridiculous, and if you're reading this @Betterhelp please change this.
Despite this though, very much still a solid 4* review. An excellent service which has transformed my experience of therapy.

Good insights after first 2 sessions
So far my experience has been fairly good. Although the therapist with whom I was paired did not match all my criteria, I am pleased with the outcome of the sessions I have had with her thus far. The virtual therapy session was not an adjustment for me because I was already using that format. My impression is that they have found high quality therapists to be a part of their network.
