Betterhelp has been an amazing addition to my self love journey. It provides a safe space for you to explore not only the things you want to do but also your fears and your pain. I found betterhelp during a very difficult time in my life. I was struggling with grief and my life was changing. Having someone to talk to about everything I was experiencing helped really helped me, I always felt really good after my sessions. The only issue I had is the cost and limited package options.

I will say as a client on betterhelp you really have to go through some duds before you find a therapist for you. The first therapist I had didn't even know my name and we were 3 sessions in already and she never helped me find the reason I was feeling the way i was feeling. It was always "well have you tried just not thinking about it?" My second therapist I had was always cooking dinner during my phone calls or running errands and never seemed to actually care about the sessions always seeming distracted responding with yeah or iI can see how that would make you feel and nothing to back up that responce. BUT the therapist I have now is incredible and it was worth going through 2 other therapists to find her. If you ever are changing therapists or are picking one and you come across Alicia Fredericksen I recommend her 1000%:) Also betterhelp provides financial aid which is really helpful too!

The therapy is great. The flexibility of the time and schedules is also cool. There are group workshops available as well as multiple ways to contact your therapist. I stuck with the first therapist I was matched with, but if you're unsatisfied you can always change. The cost is a little high, if they accepted insurance or provided financial aid more easily I would have stayed attending therapy.

I went through two therapists with Betterhelp and I am grateful for the experience. Both listened to my needs and gave the me a-ha moments that I needed to understand my depression and work through that and my anxiety. I appreciated the scheduling and the message exchange, but sometimes it was difficult to meet with the therapist online due to time differences or my schedule.

Paying the larger fee for better help allowed me to get a better therapist compared to when I was a student and could only afford the cheapest one. However, this has allowed me to a more affordable and flexible way of obtaining therapy

Loved that I could do everything online and pick times for sessions that worked for me. The person I was matched with was perfect for me, straight talking and down to earth. Didn't feel like I was in 'therapy', but just someone who genuinely wanted to listen and help The only thing I would like to see is more subscription options. Towards the end I would have liked to move to bi-weekly or monthly sessions rather than weekly but this wasn't really an option unless I basically skipped sessions which I was already paying for.

Better Help is great for someone like me who is medicated and just needs a little more help. I wouldn't reccomend them to anyone who is suicidal or needs more than just a little assistance to help with their day to day mental health. However, if you're not struggling and just need a little bit of a push in the right direction mentally then this app is great.

The first therapist I received from BetterHelp spoke over me, dismissed my primary concerns, tried to force other concerns on me, misunderstood my struggles, and then declared themselves unable to help me because I was too much. However, the second therapist I got was fantastic. They built rapport immediately, then proceeded to figure out my current priorities through professional and comfortable questions, and then we started to unravel what I came for (trauma work + anxiety). They also said we can look into a diagnosis I'm interested in down the road and weigh the pros & cons of diagnosis together, which made me feel heard and validated as well as like this therapist was doing their best to improve my quality of life, not just slap me with a million diagnoses. They didn't pry about my gender identity other than a brief question of if I planned to medically transition, which made sense to ask, and didn't make me feel annoying or lesser than for being me. They even validated my gender later in the session when I discussed how my (unsupportive) parents responded to me coming out. I'm also just a fast food worker, minimum wage, but with all the financial help options the price was low enough that I could afford to start therapy via this platform (I can't afford it any other way). I would definitely come back to this platform again down the road if I needed an affordable therapy option.
