BetterHelp was great at matching me, but with bad software issues
BetterHelp was great at matching me with the perfect therapist. I am also pleased with their many resources and opportunities for support and learning. The software is another story. I would guess that every 2-3 weeks there is a challenge with my ability to connect with my therapist from one of our ends or the connection cuts out during our session. Very frustrating.

Two no-shows from therapist
My therapist didn't show up for our first session. The good news is that they didn't count that session in the five free sessions I receive with my insurance. She did show up for the next two but then she didn't show up for our session this evening. So out of four sessions scheduled, she didn't show up for two. Again, this session won't count towards my five free sessions but I am quite discouraged with this therapy. I may switch to a new therapist and see if I have better luck.

good therapists, good classes, needs more options outside of subscriptions
While my therapists and the group sessions were at par with a therapeutic session- the ethics behind a subscription model is a bit iffy. Most of people needing therapy are in a state of emotional turmoil and getting caught in another subscription model that just dips from your pocket isn't the greatest idea.
If they had options like an appointment once a month/bimonthly/ and or weekly or by appointment then it would make more sense. But then you also need to know that their therapists are going to show up/not have connection issues as well. And if you miss an appointment - they take the weekly fee AND 20$ extra on top of that. Hardly ethical there. I know therapists usually have a no-show fee but it is not above or beyond the fee already paid for the session. so paying extra isn't something I think a regulated company would participate in.
they did reach out when I complained about one therapist referring to people in the class as trolls and seemed to take it seriously although I'm unsure if the therapist ever got the feed back that that is hardly the way anyone should talk to anyone let alone being the leader in a therapeutic environment. so that was medium hopeful.
It also doesn't make sense if you are living in canada because your benefits will not cover this program. Possibly for some of the aforementioned iffiness around the ethics of the subscription model as well as not being regulated under Canadian colleges or associations. So you need to want to freely spend 85+tax a week = 340$ a month which after a year is 4800 a year.
So again, great therapists, great schedules, but needs more options for people not being able to afford weekly sessions. I was offered a reduced rate for my position but it was still weekly at 72 ish bucks a week. still locked into weekly.
also, I think it would behoove people to move away from subscription styles as the only option because for the most part people are starting to equate it with scam like existences and leaves people feeling uneasy about what they have been partaking in.

Frustrating experience now resolved
You would assume that a company that asks you to complete a survey in an attempts to match you with a therapist would honor your request. I asked for a female therapist and was assigned a male.
When informed of this, I requested a female therapist again. I received an email providing a link for me to select a therapist from a list, but the link did not work no matter how many times I tried. I continued to get emails about setting up an appointment with the male therapist who I had rejected. I canceled my membership and then received an additional email regarding the male therapist that I did not choose to work with.
This was a very frustrating experience during a time that I was struggling emotionally.
The company finally reached out to me and refunded my money. I am satisfied that they finally understood my frustration and gave me options that solved my problem.

We're sorry to hear about this experience and can definitely understand your frustration. You should be able to select your own therapist match (after the initial match is made) from a list of options, and generally have female therapists available in all states.
I've requested the email address linked to your BetterHelp account so that we can have a member of our management team reach out to you directly to see if we can get this resolved.

It would be nice to be able to…
It would be nice to be able to communicate with you’re therapist trough the message tab even when stepping away from therapy.

Great options, but not for me
I think this is a great idea for many to access therapy within the comforts of their home, or where they need to be.
However, I struggled to find a therapist to work with. I have just relocated recently, and am struggling with anxiety and self esteem, often triggered by my upbringing.
I had a browse through and was not able to find options for therapist who might already have some cultural context (or their description doesn't say so).
While I think this is a good idea, I didn't think it worked for me.

Heard good things but too expensive
I've heard really good things about this company. However unfortunately, even after applying for financial aid and being offered some discount, I am still unable to afford the help.
I wish access to support wasn't as expensive.
