I'll admit, I needed to change to another therapist after I felt that the first one quacked me (if that even is a word : P). Other than that, the help that you'll receive from the therapist you'll be assigned to is quite good, with a level of professionalism that you'd want from your therapist. Plus, the subscription price is quite affordable, considering the usual cost for one session. There were some technical hiccups as well, especially if you tried to use your smartphone, but otherwise nothing too crashy that could interrupt a session mid-call.

If this is the only type of therapy you can accept right now, do it. But I recommend seeking professional help directly from a therapist, or even just an online coach who has a direct contact with you. Most of the therapists here do Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which means changing your thoughts but it always ended up feeling like a class rather than a therapy session. When i finally found a therapist who listened to me and built the session on what i was saying I needed, she cancelled and didnt allow to reschedule. So this is all just flaky and time consuming. The matches arent great and if one doesnt work, sure, you can just change the therapist but it takes a while and they have limited video sessions so its been basically three weeks and I have no therapist. Edit: Changed it from 1 to 4 stars because the team reached out in many ways to try and make it right. I value this, because it makes me feel taken care of and that this isn't just a mindless money grab. I feel like the people that reached out cared and that makes all the difference. I now have a new matched therapist and I'm going into this journey a lot more optimistically and expecting better results. Thank you!

We are sorry if the clinical approach your therapist utilized wasn't the right fit for your needs, Daniel. You are correct, we do have many other therapists who offer other clinical approaches and would be happy to help rematch at anytime. Our Member Success Team is also here should you ever need assistance with cancellations or adjusting your account. I am going to request more information, via TrustPilot, so we can work together further. Talk soon, BetterHelp Team

Very helpful is your schedule or location prevent someone from having sessions in person. More than once I've been able to find a therapist who could relate to my circumstances and availability since my schedule is limited to the Asian time zone.

Betterhelp is unbelievably practical. it was my first time in therapy so I had initial doubts but I was surprised how how much help I got and how much better I felt. My therapist was nice and patient. Scheduling was flexible and on point.

I have seen Better Help advertised on Youtube channels so when I was having a rough time this year, I decided to join up to get some help. I was mindful that most of the advertising I saw was from people living in USA/Canada. During the sign up process, everything was displayed Australia dollars / time zone and there was no information to be found about international customers so I assumed Better Help worked with therapist in Australia. It wasn't until I had paid and was booking my first session that I saw the only available times were 1-3am. I contacted my matched therapist who apologised and asked me for times that suited me and she would work with me. This is no fault of the therapist but as she was based in Florida, we were on complete different time zones meaning that the only times that could work at a semi reasonable time were early in the morning or late at night. I am a shift worker and work at these times and if I am not, I am sleeping for work. Trying to figure out times I was available in Australia to match reasonable times in Florida was an annoyance that I didn't need on top of everything I was already dealing with. By the time the therapist and I were able to book in a session, my first 7 days was up meaning I had spent $110 for nothing. I had one video call with the therapist which was good however the booking / finding time process commenced straight after it. We booked another not-ideal session time after a 12hr night shift that I had to cancel to work overtime. I have paid $400 for lots of pointless messages back & forth trying to organize appointments and 1 video session. The concept of Better Help is fantastic, the app is user friendly and from my experience the matching of therapist is spot on. However, I feel mislead by Betterhelp. Betterhelp should provide full transparency when it comes to therapy for their international customers. Addit: The customer service and response I got in relation to this review was fantastic, can not fault it. I hope this review is helpful to international users and that BetterHelp will make so improvements for international customers.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, Frances, and I'm sorry that the time zone differences made things difficult for you. I wanted to note that there are thousands of other therapists (with varying live session availability) that you can switch to if scheduling is an issue, and that our Member Success team can also work to extend your billing cycle in many cases if you're having issues getting in touch with the therapist. In any case, we want to make sure we can address all your concerns and get this resolved in the way that works best for you. I'll request a bit more information from you here. Thank you, BetterHelp team

I truly enjoy and appreciate my therapist. She kind, helpful, understanding and genuine. I find her to be so easy to talk and open up to. It does feel more like I'm talking to a friend at times. Which is something I really like and don't at the same time. However it's been mainly a beneficial experience.

I do think it’s a great service you offer, however I did find your ads a bit misleading. Now, this could be my misinterpretation of the ads, so if that’s the case, I apologize. I paid the subscription fee, being under the impression that I could do a reasonable amount of groups a week, and that was included in the subscription cost. However, only one single group a week is covered, the rest you have to pay $25 a group to go to, in addition to the $250 I already have you. “1 therapist session a week and 1 group session a week” should be made clear in your advertising.
