Shocking
Shocking. I said unhappy just giving my bank details out. A weird explanation no where near answering this. Just generic copy and paste email. They then send a second saying I’d been unsubscribed!!
Response from BetterHelpDec 24, 2025
We apologize for any frustration or surprise, Suzanne! Our system will sometimes send an automated response if you reply to a marketing email. It looks like our team followed up and unsubscribed you from marketing emails as a courtesy, because you indicated you would not be interested in paying for the service.
We can have a member of our management team follow up with you directly to be sure we can address any additional concerns you may have!

Geld abziehen

Dein BetterHelp-Team

Extremely frustrating and poorly…
Extremely frustrating and poorly designed registration process.
The therapist onboarding process is unnecessarily long, demanding, and time-consuming. It requires extensive form-filling, document uploads, and waiting for your information to be “checked” and “scored,” which takes a significant amount of time with little transparency or feedback.
After investing well over an hour completing the registration and waiting for my details to be reviewed, I contacted support to highlight how unusable and inefficient the process is. Only then was I informed that they are not currently looking for new applicants. This is information that should be made clear at the very beginning, not after clinicians have spent considerable time navigating an exhaustive application.
The lack of upfront communication, combined with long review times and automated scoring, makes the process feel disorganised and unprofessional. Therapists’ time is valuable, and this system shows little respect for it.
I would not recommend starting the application unless you are prepared for delays, unclear criteria, and the possibility of being turned away after significant effort!

Awful and fraudulent
Awful. Basically a scam site. Betterhelp continued to take money from my account well past me requesting to close it, and I'm still battling to get that money refunded. all in all they stole more than €250.
Avoid them at all costs, they just prey on people with mental health issues hoping they'll be too fragile to complain. Awful.
Response from BetterHelpDec 24, 2025
Hi Richard,
We can definitely understand why this would be an upsetting experience. We do try to make it clear when you're entering payment information that you're agreeing to ongoing membership payments every week (or every 4 weeks) until you cancel. Our team can also help provide membership extensions to help make up for missed time, or we can provide a refund for the unused time upon request.
To make sure we can get this resolved for you, I've requested the email address linked to your BetterHelp account so we can reach out to you directly.

Liked the therapist
The therapist was good. Thats the only thing i have to say. £45 for an ONLINE session is ridiculous- 45 for a session is ridiculous.
I had already pre-paid it, so i already paid for that hour yet if you cancel or dont turn up you are charged £15. Even though you already paid for that hour. Id understand if you placed a small deposit or if you didnt pay and were charged £15- but again. That is your time to do what you want with. They get a free £45 so what.
Not only that but they dont care wether you have paid for a session- if you have any left. If your month is up, its up. Thats £45 down the drain because they are money grabbing mongrels.
The only thing i have to say is the therapist was a lovely person. But that was her, as a person.
If you are reading this, please find something cheaper. Its so stressful knowing that if you accidentally miss you will be charged an extra £15 although we all try not to miss it anyway, its just down right cheeky. They are so forceful with you signing up, constantly asking on the app and if you say no it asks again.
Disgusting abuse of peoples mental health. £160 a month- and im pretty sure i got a discount for WHAT?? 4 one hour sessions.. wwoooowww just to be charged if i accidentally miss one when i have a lot going on already wow MORE stress brilliant!
Cheeky CHEEKY people.

Hi Emily,
We appreciate your feedback surrounding the billing structure. We have it structured this way because live sessions are only one piece of what is included in a BetterHelp membership, as it also grants you access to "Groups", classes, and an interactive mental health journal among other things. That being said, I can understand the frustration surrounding the missed session fees, and we waive the first one (and can be lenient with refunding these in many cases), as we understand that "things happen."
Just in case you would like a member of our management team to review your account further, I've requested the email address linked to your BetterHelp account (you can provide it through a separate Trustpilot form you'll receive shortly). We can reach out to you directly in that case.
Thank you,
BetterHelp Team

I’m writCharged for Over a Year Despite No Use – Please Monitor Billing Carefullying this to share my experience…
I’m writing this to share my experience so others can make an informed decision.
I signed up to BetterHelp during a difficult period and initially tried one therapist. Unfortunately, I found the service unsuitable and decided not to continue. From that point onward, I did not log in, access sessions, or use the platform again.
Despite this, I continued to be charged for approximately 14 months. During that entire time, I received no inactivity reminders, no billing prompts, and no re-engagement communication to check whether I was still using or intending to use the service.
When I eventually discovered the charges and raised the issue, my bank reviewed the case and refunded £1,320, concluding that those payments were unjustified. A further £1,540 remains outstanding, which BetterHelp has declined to refund, citing internal refund limits rather than addressing the lack of service usage or notification.
The prolonged nature of this dispute has been extremely stressful for me, particularly given that I originally joined the platform while seeking mental health support. This experience has made me feel that transparency and fair billing practices are especially important for services operating in the mental health space.
I would strongly encourage anyone considering BetterHelp to closely monitor their billing, fully understand notification settings, and regularly review whether the service is still right for them.

We're very sorry to hear about this experience, Valerie. Our platform should send emails regular emails reminding members with active subscriptions about features that come with their paid membership. It seems our Billing Operations team was trying to work with you to find a resolution here within the limits of our payment processor. We'll see if there's anything more that we can do on our end and follow up with you as soon as we know more.
Thank you,
BetterHelp Team

I'm sorry for any frustration or concern here. We do not have any plans that charge €29,99 but perhaps you were billed by another company we have partnered with.
I've requested the email address linked to any BetterHelp account you may have so that we can look into this further and work to get this resolved or provide more information.
