Absolutely love this service
Absolutely love this service. I was sceptical at first, I didn't have a lot of money to try it, but they offered a discount and I took a chance. My life was changing so much at once I couldn't make a weekly schedule to talk, but was able to cancel and reschedule to finally video chat with a therapist. I hadn't tried therapy since the 90s and it was absolutely rubbish back then and not helpful, but it seems times have changed and I was able to talk to a therapist and share my situation and instead of attacking every decision I've ever made, they listened and were able to reframe my thinking from everything looking horrible and hopeless to feeling that it might be okay, that I can get through this. I needed someone safe to talk to that could give me nonjudgmental feedback. Unlike the therapy experience of my late teen years, instead of someone listening to try to find something to label bad so they could form a diagnosis, which would give them an excuse to have you come back week after week until their kids went through college on your money, I felt like my Betterhelp therapist was looking for the good in me, and encouraged me to keep looking forward and not give up. As an adult, it's hard to find friends or family to confide in that you can trust not to share what you tell them or use it against you some way later. The therapists on Betterhelp are good listeners, the conversations are confidential and it allows you to share concerns and problems you can't safely take to anyone else. Just in a few weeks, having a therapist online has helped me get through a really tough month that followed the worst year ever. I needed that encouragement and alternate perspective so much. If you were pushed into therapy when you were younger and now you're older and even more jaded than before, maybe Betterhelp is a good way to try again. When life is tough and there's no one to turn to for understanding or support, this app is amazing, matching you to someone that specializes in the types of problems or trauma you've endured, someone you'd feel comfortable with, someone with experience dealing with the issues you're going through; I highly recommend trying Betterhelp to see if it can work for you.
