BetterHelp is a great service. I really enjoy the counselors, price, and daily texting. The one thing that needs to be updated is the phone calls need to be LONGER THAN 30 MINUTES. This short time 1X/week is not long enough to dive deeply into complex problems. The phone calls need to be 45 minutes to an hour at the minimum.

I’ve had several therapists on BetterHelp. My first therapist Lucia was very helpful. She helped me through many ups and downs but we had to part ways because she thought i might have borderline disorder (she doesn’t specialize in borderline disorder). But my second therapist, Heidi, i had the by far worst experience with her. In fact, she made my mental health worse. I was able to work with Heidi for a few minutes until she said she does not do phone sessions. But when I told her I was looking for a phone Therapy session ever since I was paired with her, she began to gaslight me by saying I’m making assumptions and I am the one to blame that we couldn’t work well together. She made me feel very uneasy, and the worst past was she made me feel worse about myself than I could possibly be before I contacted her. The reason I am certain about my statement in regards to having phone sessions is because I have a statement saved on my phone for future convenience if I had to be paired with another therapist, I would simply copy & paste my statement and send to them to avoid misunderstandings as to possibly having to have to get into video therapies or text therapies. But Heidi not only put the blame on me, but she purposefully (knowing my trauma and struggles) decides to trigger and gaslight me into second guessing myself as well as my own judgements. Therefore, I would not recommend her to anyone that struggles with self-esteem, PTSD, narcissist abuse, and people lacks in confidence because she will most definitely make it worse by putting her own mistakes onto you, and blaming you for things you never did, as well as twisting the truth for her own benefit. I feel the platform excellent and easy to navigate, but I got matched with a poor counselor. It takes so long to schedule the appointments that, in my case, I lost about $320 only to find out that my "counselor," Dr. Craig Schneider, was just there for a paycheck. He hung up on me in the middle of me thanking him for his time. Great for people with social anxiety and depression.

The first therapist I got would not except that I was an agnostic and tried to convert me. Telling me about books to read. Was distracted and was concerned about something in her crockpot. The second therapist was better, but told me all about her political views, which therapist is not supposed to do. It seems like they were just bored and wanted to talk, more than either one of them knew how to do therapy. Very disappointing.

it’s very much concentrated on US customers which is fine. but honestly for what i paid i don’t think i got much from it my first counsellor completely fobbed me off to someone else, my next counsellor seemed like she had so many clients she could keep up understandable due to covid but also the time difference made it way too hard to be efficient or of any help because i could rarely get help when i felt i needed it due to the time difference. i won’t be recommending it to my fellow aussies but my american friends definitely.

My counsellor and I had technical difficulties and were unable to connect the first time. I went into the program not knowing how long the sessions were. I assumed 1 hour, but it could also be 1/2 hour as it turned out. The calendar can be confusing to a newcomer. The website could be easier to navigate. I had to go to another department to get technical difficulties solved. This is awkward, and doesn't feel like decent customer service if you can't get to the first session and the counsellor tells you you need to go elsewhere to sort it out for yourself (after you've paid up front....) Once I got to the service department, the service was quick, professional and accommodating.

I think this site could work very well, but I have come to find that they will only show you the positive reviews... Not that people are only leaving positive reviews, but they hide the negative reviews. I personally had a less than stellar experience and left an honest review, but the review was never publicly published. Hiding negative feedback creates a slanted view of the therapist and does not allow individuals to appropriately screen potential therapists. I understand that they want to protect themselves and their therapists from unwarranted negative feedback, but they could provide follow-up on negative comments and/or allow therapists to provide a response.

Really good and beneficial but very expensive, especially for a student like me.
