Not worth a penny. My therapist clearly wasn’t listening to me. Her responses didn’t make much sense. Felt like I was talking to a bot, but lowkey AI would’ve been better

Told therapist I was struggling with seeing someone going through crap and not being able to help, but felt guilty about leaving the situation. Therapist told me it was 'none of my f***ing business', that me and the other people who cared about this person shouldn't be 'gossiping' and I needed to 'work on my self-esteem'.

Ich war fast ein Jahr lang bei Betterhelp in Therapie und das Billing ist wirklich eine Frechheit. Ich habe mehrfach versucht eine Lösung dafür zu finden, dass die Urlaubsabwesenheiten von sowohl mir als auch meinem Therapeuten für einen „Rückstau“ an Stunden gesorgt haben. Mein Therapeut hatte zudem nur sehr wenige Termine pro Woche freigeschalten, die sich nicht immer in meinen eigenen Arbeitsalltag integrieren haben lassen. Das Resultat war, dass sich dutzende Stunden angesammelt haben, die ich bezahlt, aber nie in Anspruch genommen habe. Mir wurde zwar ein paar Mal das Abo kostenfrei verlängert, das hat allerdings nicht das Problem gelöst, da die Stunden gar nicht aufzuholen waren. Letzten Endes habe ich das Abo gekündigt, da ich mein Geld sonst auch direkt verbrennen kann.

In mid March of 2026 I tried to get "help" through this betterhelp. I have never seen a therapist because when I explained I could not do Fri - Monday, they keep sending me appointments for those days, I tried to get the point through to no avail. They do not listen, once they are in your pocket the ears do not hear you. Terrible customer service, terrible listeners, go away, just go away and give me back my $175.50 for services not rendered.

My therapist, Davina, was amazing. She was very helpful, supportive and really helped me see a lot of things so this isn’t about my therapist whatsoever. I am just absolutely disgusted by the way betterhelp runs things. My therapist was on holiday for a month in which I couldn’t book sessions, and then I thought that’s ok I’m sure there’s a way that it can be resolved when she’s back. I was charged for another month and when I chased it up they only offered me 30% off when I paid £180 for a month with no sessions whatsoever. I was and still am in a very vulnerable place and I want to have help but for a company and brand that focuses on mental health and therapy, the lack of empathy and support just so they don’t lose money is appalling. I tried so hard to chase it up and get help and support but the fact I was offered 30% off for 4 months which equals to the month I paid anyways just made 0 sense to me. I do not recommend betterhelp whatsoever to anyone who is actually looking for support and to actually get better. It’s been a couple of months since this happened but I’ve been considering going back to it but I don’t want to risk another £180 a month to be wasted when a therapist is on holiday (rightfully) and the company does nothing to support a customer. Do better. And Davina Dobbs, my therapist, deserves a raise she is amazing. Sadly I never got to contact her to thank her because my account got shut down because of all of this, but I do recommend Davina she gets 5/5 starts from me. Betterhelp, 1/5 stars.

Paid $60 for therapy services that were never adequately provided. When I requested a refund, customer service told me someone would call in 24-48 hours, no follow-up, no resolution. Complete runaround. BetterHelp markets itself to people who are struggling and need real help. What they actually deliver is a subscription charge with no accountability. Their refund process is designed to exhaust you until you give up. They already settled with the FTC in 2023 for deceptive practices. Nothing has changed. If you're considering this platform, save your money and find a local therapist instead. This company does not deserve your trust or your money. Taking money from people seeking mental health help and then stonewalling refund requests is a scam. Call it what it is.

10/14/25 I went to BetterHelp seeking help from a therapist for grief and depression problems in which I was told I would get help they offer all these services including video call, messages, and phone calls which I needed and wanted. After taking my payment the therapist then advises me that those services would not be provided to and how she really wouldn’t be available to me due to starting her own practice and other clients. Also stating even if I messaged her that IF possible she would get back to me. As this was no good for want I needed I then informed better help letting them know I would no longer want to move forward due to this and would like a refund. They agreed sent me a refund to only take back and decline the refund. When trying to get this resolved they won’t speak to me on the phone only through email and just keep repeating the same statement saying they sent the payment. I have sent countless emails stating my bank shows they cancelled the refund but I keep getting the same retyped response of they sent it and wait 3 business days. I am seeking help with this issue and to make others aware that this company takes your money without providing services. Sum it all up they took my money and provided me no services.

I signed up with BetterHelp April 1st It’s been 2 weeks & have yet to see a therapist… My Therapist just discharged me as a patient, bc they’re ‘too busy.’ Why even assign me to her, if she’s too busy? I clearly was assigned to her and not what is advertised of having a therapist selected based on the survey I filled out and medical information I give. As a 1st time patient/customer this has proven to be like majority of the other medical scam operations. I don’t recommend BetterHelp to anyone. Their only form of communication seems to be Email and that’s a shame. I have screenshot where the physician said they’re too busy to help and wish me luck 👍. Like 🙃thanks…Absolute Joke Update: My 1st video session with a new therapist had a tech issue where the therapist could hear me just couldn't see me. I could hear and see her just fine. We didn't even get through her evalution or questions for me. She kept reminding me she has more questions and that there is 15minutes left for the appointment and 5 minutes left. Cool, glad they're focused and staying on track. Funny thing is that's what brings me in. We didn't even go other any of the things I wished to discuss or what brought me in. I'm not reacting, I'm reflecting on the live session. It was overall a bad experience for me. The therapist is entitled to her own thoughts n feelings. Hopefully you can assign me a more suitable therapist. Gonna try again next week, since I am only permited 1 live session per week. And then I'm giving up and leaving a well deserving negative review. Going to be a month of poor Customer service. Idk, I might try GrowHealthy or another company that provides better help. Usually other companies are eager to outperform the competition. And I am afraid that most of the in person places down here in Florida are grossly overpaid scams. I already tried. Gonna try again and then done🙅I don't wanna keep calling until I speak to the right call center representative, if that's what is needed to receive treatment. 52 weeks in a year. That limits thw available treatment if I am limited to only 1 live session per week.
